My 2008 was a single owner car, Carfax was clean, but none of that means it was not rear ended and or the bumper was taken off and not put back on correctly.

None the less, my rear bumper on one side shows clips between the seam, look close and you can see the clips.

Also the seams don't appear to be even on both sides

I take it that is not normal ?

A body shop can probably fix ?

Yes, that should be an easy enough fix. You might need to buy a few clips.

 

That bumper has definitely been repainted too, you can see the difference in the peel and metallic flake

 

I guess one can never really know what these used cars go through from one owner to the next. I am the second owner.

Now I don't know whether I should give the car back to Carmax, I still can.

 

I wouldn't worry about the bumper being repainted. The car is 11 years old, bumpers are going to get bumped into and repainted. I would see if they can improve the fit.

 

That is not something I personally would consider bad. As Steve mentioned, these car bumpers can be repainted by Lexus as part of their CPO process. As for the uneven seams, I had the same thing on my 08 and I lived with it and it was never a problem.

 

I can live with the bumper for now, and it is an 11 yr old car, it won't be perfect.

All the interior panels will be replaced under Lexus warranty which is why I am keeping the car, that makes me happy enough to keep the car.

 

It is all about money. I can't afford a 2013 right now. I have never owned an 11 year old car before so its imperfections will take some time to adjust to. As I said, the interior replacement is enough for me to keep the car, given my current financial situation at the moment.
