Default Replacing Battery

Have 2012 ls460, I replace my own batteries when they go. Have not had to replace the LS battery yet. When I do replace it does anything have to be done with the electronics, or settings?

I've never had any problems but others have reported various systems needing to be re-set.

Did mine couple months ago (on an ‘08) and didn’t have to do anything.

Did mine on a 2010 with nothing to do except put it back in place and hook it up. Mine was out 4-5 hours because I had to drive 160 -175 miles round trip to Lexus dealership to get it replaced under warranty.

Default DIY Replacing battery

Unless your battery is replaced by a licensed mechanic everything would be hunky dory. I'm told replacing the battery by yourself in models of OBD2, the safe bet is to connect a memory saver before disconnecting the old battery, unless your battery is already dead for a long while. That way your power equipment setting will return to its original state. Otherwise, you might lose some of the original setups, esp., your radio security code. Your car battery powers the ECU even though the ECU has it's own rechargeable backup battery. The rechargeable battery may not have enough life to support it when it gets old.

I believe the manual says to not reconnect the cables for a few minutes.

I was under the impression that you should connect a secondary battery while replacing to preserver all systems that use memory settings.

I used the memory saver OBD. You hookup OBD with it then it's powered by an external battery . This car takes a long to relearn all the value lost with the battery is disconnected . That's way I always use the memory saver OBD .
