Default Carista Question

I am getting a new iPad. I have the Carista App on my current 2nd Gen iPad of which I bought and paid for when it was available for a one time flat rate fee. My plane is to backup my current iPad and then copy my backup to the new iPad. Or can I download the Carista App from the App Store and still have the unlimited usage that I currently have?

If you backup your iPad and then restore your new iPad from that backup you shouldn't have to do that. It will basically just clone your old iPad onto the new one apps and all

Your best bet is to use Apple's iOS device upgrade procedures to transfer Carista (or any other iOS apps) from an old iPad to a new one. Apple offers three methods to do the transfer: (1) Quick Start, (2) iCloud, or (3) iTunes. I have been using the iTunes method to transfer my iOS apps from old iPhones and iPads to new ones and like it. You may either use a Mac or Windows computer to do the transfer. For details of the how-to, see here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201269

Hi, Steve. We posted almost at the same time but you were quicker 0.01 second than me. Yes, in my posting, the second and third methods (iCloud and iTunes) are what Steve said "to back and restore".

Here is a Crisita App Question

Can I use the App on another car beside My Lexus LS 460L. I would like to find the factory keyless entry code without taking it to the Ford dealership and paying them to hook up to a computer and tell me what it is. You cannot get it by plugging in the VIN. I know I can take the lower dash apart under the steering wheel and unbolt the fuse box and it is on the ECM behind it but I really don't want to do that. I have the current code to get into the car but it is a car I bought for my GD who is coming from HI to go to college in VA. I just wanted to change it to something easier for her to remember.

Weird Carista doesn't state this outright.

Amazon Amazon

Under Q&A

Q: Can this be used for multiple vehicles or just 1?
A: Multiple cars

So to answer my own question. The Carista app will interface via the ELM327 with the Ford. It will show any codes it will show service tests but it does not support and custom changes or options. It would not allow me access to the ECM data to retrieve the factory keyless entry code.

i also paid the flat fee way back when but noticed it wouldnt work after while. My workaround is I email them and they give me sign me up for a month beta plan. Kind of sucks having to always email and i am not using the car as much as i use to so no need to always mess with functions,.

Mine is still working fine. When I was playing with the Ford last week I plugged the LS in and checked for codes and reset the few that I had. I plugged in my 2006 SC 430 to check for codes and did not show any.
