After 3 years i had to replace the Red Top Optima. The last few weeks it felt slow to start and if i left the accesseries on for a few mins less than 5 the dash would say low battery start car to charge. I bought a Topdon tester on amazon after reading some good reviews on line. It tested the optima and said replace. I ran the test several times on a cold battery and hot with same result.
After sometime i chose the Odyssey 34-PC1500. 4 year warranty and 850CCA. The Red Top was 720CCA. As you can see in the photos the test results for both. I bought it from the Odyssey web site. Funny thing is it shipped from a battery depot in Florida and only took 2 days to get here.
The tester can also test charging and starter status. All came back good just the battery failed. This will probably be the last battery i will buy for the LS. By time it goes i will be done with the car.
My old LS i had a interstate and it did well till i sold it. That was a normal type not a AGM.
Total cost with needed spacer was $310.00
720CCA 850CCA

Doesn't the Optima have a 3 year warranty? Using a 30% off coupon from Advance Auto a new Optima is $162 before taxes. I'm sure the Odyssey is a great battery but is it worth almost 2X as much?

Yes, Optima has a 3 year. There is been some talk about who owns Optima now and it has lost some quality. Make sure you register your battery or that 3 year is useless.
I got mine from Costco, interstate (cold weather package) suppose to have more cracking power; cost me about 90$ after turning the old one in. Its not me cheapening out, I think their batteries are just as good plus anything with an issue Costco is awesome customer service.

I say its a matter of opinion. So many batteries are made by the same plant. I liked the 4 year warranty on mine, etc. I have tried many batteries over the years. For some it comes down to cost. So buy whatever you want.
The local pep boys manager mentioned that my Bosch AGM battery if ordered on the west coach was built by Johnson Controls and if east coast was East Penn.

too much money to ship across the USA
what kind of specs do we need on the battery if there are any?
Agm’s in general are more sensitive to overcharging at higher battery temps.
Factory panasonic battery was probably a flooded cell VRLA for a reason. Extreme quality. High dollar. Can take a higher voltage charge at elevated temps better than a AGM.
factory $700 battery may triple the life of others that cost 1/3 as much..,,
you might think Lexus knew what they were doing when the designed the specific battery for their car or something....
The P/O of my 2013 replaced the battery with an OEM Lexus battery after 50 months after it failed a health check at the dealer in January of 2017. When I got the car, I checked the battery level and it was low. I had to add distilled water to all cells. That battery is a 680 CCA battery. My take is that if you live in colder climates, the extra CCA is a good idea. There's no way I'd ever go with an OEM battery for this car unless it was a warranty replacement. The cost is simply ridiculous.
You can use the online coupons from Advance and get an Autocraft Gold 700 CCA battery with a full 3-year free replacement warranty for around $100 all day long. IMO, that's probably all the battery anyone would ever need. I just don't see the merit of these high-priced batteries.
There are two different OEM batteries. The ones that are sold at the dealership are not the OEM Panasonic batteries that come with the car, that one in that link is. So the previous owner didn't pay $800 for that battery.

You made an excellent choice with the Odyssey battery. I've had a DieHard Platinum, Group 34 (Rebranded Odyssey 34-PC1500) in my LS460L for 6 years now, and it is still going strong. Sears gave it a 10 year full replacement warranty, so they either knew it would stand up, or that they wouldn't.
I have/had the PC1750 size in my Landcruiser and Q-45 (recently sold) for even longer, with zero issues. You won't have any issue with terminal corrosion, or potential damage from acid boiling out, like a traditional flooded battery. If you do draw down the Odyssey and need to deep charge, then be sure to use a charger rated for AGM, like the "BatteryMinder 2012-AGM".
