Owned a few Lexus vehicles in the past. 2002 GS300, 2004 GX470, 2005 LS430, 2006 GS430, and a 2006 IS250. Recently purchased a 2010 LS460 Sport with Comfort Package. Black on Black/Saddle interior with 64K miles. Knew alignment was a little off and dealer said they would fix that along with some scratches and include a detail. Once purchased, I have come to find out that the front control arms were shot and it needed all 4 rotors and pads. After some waiting the dealer had obtained approval from their insurance company that covers for these fails. They had used all Lexus parts and the total was $5,600 After reading many posts on control arm fails it does concern me. I’m hoping the newer Lexus control arms and other hardware will keep this car care free during my ownership...
I’ve always found the CL forum very informative and helpful.
Love these sport models, especially the interior in this one. Being in NY, they are a rare sight as very few rear wheel drive models made their way up here. I've only ever seen 2 at my dealer in Buffalo.

Thanks guys. The options and interior was what really sold me. I was a little concerned about the air suspension but man does it drive so smoothly. The two tone saddle with sport and comfort package is nice.
Just picked up one myself. 2010 LS460 AWD in smokey granite with light gray interior and equipped with the comfort package (bags). Best of all, it has 43800 miles. Really stoked. Question for y'all...insurance rates. What are you seeing for full coverage, no accidents, good credit (I'm 39)? I traded my 2007 LX470 for the LS, and the rates went up 50%+. Seem BS to me, but I could be wrong...It's the car of a doctor, not 19 year old STI driver... I use a broker, and I was giving them grief for the cost.
Side note: My credit union also offered me a platinum service contract through CUNA for $1,3XX for 4/48K. Not bad, though they are persnickety about the air suspension exclusions (bags, "shocks" -- I'm hoping "CYLINDER ASSEMBLY, PNEUMATIC, FRONT RIGHT WITH SHOCK ABSORBER" gets me a pass . Still, for $1,3XX it felt like a good little insurance policy to keep me from dealing with the control arm issues et al.

Congrats on the car! I traded in a 2010 Cadillac CTS on my 2011 LS 460, and my insurance only went up a little, maybe 10% more per year.

TIA for the insurance question answers.
My rates on my 2 month old purchase LS from a Miata stayed roughly the same FWIW!
I am not one to purchase an extended warranty but I also do my own maintenance.
