On vehicle start up my 07 LS460L has green AUTO light but notemperatures displayed. After a minute or 2 the screen says a/c off and the auto light turns out. Once I press auto the temperatures resets to 75-I keep the vehicle set to 70- and returns to normal operation. After running the a/c diagnostics I got error code 28 and 41. Does anyone know what these codes mean? Not sure it makes a difference, but my car has the executive package with ottoman. Any help is much appreciated.

 

Have you searched the 4LS forum? I remember someone posting about this issue. I believe it has to do with the blend door being broken, but I don't quite remember. Hopefully someone chimes in with the thread.

 

I couldn't find a thread that seemed to have the same problem. The door opens and closes while turning recirc on and off. So I don't believe this the issue.

 

Make sure the filter is fully seated and snapped into place.

 

I've treated reseating the filter a couple of different times now. Also I replaced the filter over a year before the problem occured.

 

If the blend door works when pushing the recirc button, and the filter is properly inserted it may be time to get it into the hands of a technician .Those are the 2 most common problems we see here and haven't heard of other causes.

 

Check your coolant level. Seriously. I just had this problem and it was caused by low coolant. I realized I had low coolant because my car started overheating (minor crack in the radiator). Once I filled the coolant back up, the overheating went away and ALSO the delayed a/c stopped as well. Now the a/c system starts as soon as I start the car.

Also, don't forget to "burp" the car while you're filling up the coolant. Hope this helps

 

The reason the vehicle didn't display anything is because it's running a self diagnostic on the car during start up. Mine did the same but the code is 42 which is the recirculation door motor. The servomotor worked once in awhile (or actually the potentiometer inside the servomotor was working once in a while) so it starts acting up once in awhile before the servomotor dies all together I assume. And FYI, don't leave recirc on auto! I drove around w/ the glove box out & saw how much the recirc door moves all the time during my drive to work. I assume that's why the servomotor wore itself out because the old owner prob did that.

I don't see 28 but a quick search says it's similar to 21 which means you probably ran the test while the car was inside the garage or the sunshade was covering the solar sensor.
As for 42, one of your servomotor is probably out or on the way out. Mine was on 42 which I fixed myself:

And FYI, all the servo motors are the same. And across lots of Toyota products. I bought a use servomotor on Ebay & that fixed my problem (post #14 in link above).
