Default climate control issue

with 18K on my '11 F, the auto climate control has stopped responding. When you press auto, the AC comes on with medium fan, and there is no change to temp or fan speed no matter where you set the temperature. It was working fine just a week or so ago. I guess I'll have to take it in on Monday. Anyone else experience this?

Did you change the cabin filter recently?

I've never changed it. Didn't know you could. I just saw a video on how to change the filter, I'll look into it.
EDIT - THIS IS THE WRONG VIDEO FOR THE ISF

Followup - I got a cabin filter from Pep Boys and installed it, the climate control resumed working perfectly. Thank you.

Great!

Was the install similar to the vid or more involved?

Glad I could help, the flap in the cabin filter access can be stuck sometimes after replacing the filter. But im glad replacing it fixed it for you

Use the videos in the link below. IS-F follows same steps. Seriously takes a min or two to change it.

I hope you guys put the HVAC system into recirculate mode before forcing the second door open.......if the car is in this recirculate mode the door will already be open to access the filter and you should only have to remove the first cover....if you see what looks to be a second door, do not force this open as it will break the dampener mechanism...to the tune of $2K to fix it.

This is the problem with the filter heads video, it does not include these steps....or is it remotely close to the actual steps required to change our filter.

Yes, this video shows exactly what I saw in my '11. The original video I posted is completely wrong for our car. As was mentioned, the AC must be set on Recirculate before you start. I looked into changing the cabin air filter in my Mazdaspeed, and saw you have to dismantle the entire dashboard to get to it. Forget it.
