Found a solution?

I've been experiencing the exact same behavior in my '09 with Mark Levinson...

Sounds like a loose or marginal fuse.

Replace them.

There are something like 8 fuses associated with the amplifier and head unit. They are all called out in the Owners Manual.

I never got to the bottom of it, but magically it stopped about November last year.
I am thinking it could be temp related so this summer I will not be surprised if starts again.

If this starts happening again when the weather gets warmer... I would for sure look into the soldering things said above. it would sound like a bad solder joint to me.

It ended up being the head unit. I bought a used one on eBay and I haven't had any issues since.

This is exactly what I did. There's a bad connection inside the head unit. I'm going to disassemble my old one and see if I can find what it is.

Mine is now doing the exact same thing.. The odd thing is, if it's electrical- why does it eject all the CDs first? If I JUUST applied the recent update to the GPS, will I have to re-apply it?

Did you actually do this fix yourself? Just wondering if you had success doing this.

Mine does the same thing, but only when I have my iPhone connected and playing. It is at the dealership now and they will probably keep it a few days.

Default Check Main Ground

Check the main grounding strap under the battery. It may be coincidence but I had to replace the bolt connecting the ground to the frame because of corrosion and have not had the problem since. But I have not had the car sitting in the sun all day either. My IS250 would not start one day and as soon as I connected jumper cables to ground it started with no second battery connected.

This happened to my 08 and I had one month left on my 8 year platinum warranty. I took it to Lexus dealer and they replaced the whole unit (about $800)..I loved the platinum warranty

I had the same exact problem a few times over a year or so. Stereo spontaneously turning off, CD ejecting, but still able to restart it. It was getting worse in the past month.
After reading some of these posts about it being an electrical short, I decided to slowly push around on the plastic on the console and see if I could provoke it. When I pushed hard on the space just below the cd slot and above those lower controls, I could get stereo to turn off exactly when I would push there.

Kind of impulsively I decide to bang a little harder with the bottom of my fist a few times in that spot to get whatever two pieces of metal that were touching to maybe clear each other. I know it could have gone the other way and I could have made it worse, ... but it worked. I haven't had the problem since, about a year ago.
