Default Performance for the LS

Good morning all,

I purchased my LS460 F Sport last week and while 386hp is plenty, I'm coming for a M6. So I'm used to a tad more hp on deck. I've been looking online since before I even purchase my LS to try to find aftermarket turbos/superchargers/engine tunes, etc. I haven't had much luck. Is there a certain shop or any work you all have done to your LS? I'm not trying to have 500+ hp. I'd like to get somewhat over 400 though. Thanks for your time.

And I kno a Lexus LS isn't a performance-oriented vehicle like a M, but I figure it's still something that can be done.

This is the only thing I've seen, and it's expensive! I believe the kit costs around $13k. It would probably be better to upgrade to an LS 500 at this point.

Actually I think that kit is about $18k.

^^^ Yes, you're right, $18k. I had thought I saw it for $13k + installation, but no, seems to be around $18k + installation.

Axle backs can dyno at 12-15hp at wheels. Add free flowing mid pipe and your well over 400 at the crank for bragging rights.

That would be interesting to add a supercharger...but at that price you could get a second LS that has another 386 HP...I know, not the same but you might as well just throw the money at a used fast weekend car instead.

Thanks for all the input. Yeah I may try to do small things here and there. Can't drop $13K just to go faster lol. It has plenty of power. I was just trying to eek out a bit more.

I think its pretty much hopeless, even if you supercharge the car I highly doubt the tranny can handle any real boost.

I would rather go with an intake, header + catless + axle back + tune, but even that seems pretty much impossible.

Yeah I thought about going domestic, but wanted something I knew would be reliable, not knocking Dodge cars or anything. I've had awesome experience with Japanese cars, so I wanted to go back that direction. But I did consider a 300 SRT8 lol. WAY more hp, but I love the smoothness and aggressive look of the Lex.

You made a good decision and I would keep the LS the way it is because it is fast enough for me..... You can always upgrade the exhaust to make it sound powerful.

BTW! That 300 SRT is a lot of car for the money and handles great..... I drove one on a road course and I was very impressed on how it handled.

Yeah. I definitely feel like I made the right choice. I'll look into exhaust/intake upgrades and go from there. Nothing too crazy.

You think the Hellcat is fast (it is), look at the Demon......OMG. Around a thousand HP.....and fully warranted by Dodge. Even come with drag tires and jack, track equipment etc. It is now the fastest production car in the world. 0-60 in 2.3 seconds...

RR Racing makes a Tune for the ISF (very similar to our motor) and is willing to do ours as well. All they need is a donor car for a day or two in the Northeast area but so far nobody is willing. I have a thread on this
