set my panic alarm off and car wont start
today I accidentally pressed the panic button on the key fob to 2009 ls 460 and then the car would not start had roadside assistance come out they tried to jump the battery if fully charged we disconnected the batery cables as this happened once before and it was the alarm not the starting system I have tried everything to reset it
This originally happened on 10/02
I accidentally posted in the wrong forum IS i think 2nd gen
since then new battery
towed to shop
they say new starter needed for $720
starter gets power though??????
next step tow back to house so i can work on it myself!
Any info greatly appreciated
Really thinking it has to do with alarm and ignition kill switch

hmm, I was hoping for a better less complicated outcome. That is a Scooby mystery. This day and age all car are so Electrical dependent. I remember when a Lexus engine looked like a regular car and fixing it was much easier. I am all out of Ideas. I guess pay the 750.oo for the fix and get the dealer to take off a percentage on your next Service you have done. Other than that if someone can come to your house like you said in the other post to try and fix this alarm/start/malfunction. Dont let it sit too long as it becomes a issue when not taken care of IF you really wanna drive the vehicle. If it becomes to much of a burden, then sell it for something more easier to fix and reliable for your every day journey to form work and such. When it comes to Lexus their Motto is dont repair, just let the dealer do it.

I believe most newer vehicles were designed and engineered to be repaired at the dealership. They are a lot more complicated than ever before.

What exactly is happening? Is the started solenoid clicking? Is the starter turning? Is there any sign of life when you push the start button? Lexus had some problems with the start button on the LS but if your starter relay is clicking, then that's not the issue. Starters can develop an open winding and if the brushes land on that winding, the starter won't turn.
