Default Wow - 1992 SC has Theft Starter Kill Switch??

I found out the hard way, but VERY COOL. I locked my doors with me inside and i opened them after my alarm set.

Well it went off, so I used the key, put it in the ignition and the car alarm shut off.

Went to work, came back and tried to start my car. got worried because the starter wouldnt kick on! Then after trial and error, relized if I used my remote, the car alarm would reset and the starter worked great.

Pretty cool from something made in 1992 (well technically 1991)!

That's awesome, unless the remote on your key doesn't work.

no using the remote resets the alarm after it goes off. I shut off my alarm by trying to start the car, it wont start, the starter wont even click on.

hmmm let me try this.. i think the same thing happened to me at the gas station but i didn't realise that it was the kill switch that caused it to not start.

I had the same problem today except I only have the valet key. I could stop the alarm by turning the ignition to ACC with it but couldn't reactivate the starter circuit by unlocking either door with it. I got it working after reading https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=125985
I found the three prong connecter clipped to the lower rear of the door.

I couldn't find posts about how to do it by disconnecting the battery. I had the battery disconnected for over two hours. It didn't work. Eventually I'll install a button to unlock the doors, until then it would be nice to know an easy way to reactivate the starter.

This alarm system was or is on every high end toyota. My homys 88 Supra had it and so did my dad's 88 Cressida . Very good system if you ask me its better than a clifford .It works with the hood ,doors and trunk .i think even if you try turning on your headlights while the alarm is armed it will go off
