Default Creaking side panels

On my 2009, the side panels on either side of the center console "creak" when driving, mostly going around corners. And if you push against them with your legs, etc. Last time at Lexus dealer I asked about this and got the "that is normal" answer. Anyone else experienced this and have a fix?

The side panels remove easily and what you can do is put padding in there to quiet that noise. If you pull on the panels from the front where they touch the dashboard and work back they come right off.

What kind of padding should I use?

I have the same issue on my 2012 (but not the 2009), so I'm curious as well

Common issue. Drives me crazy. Some have used felt to pad the panels and help to remove the creaking noise - some with no success. I'll tackle it eventually.Keep us posted on your results.

Another fix used by dealers is the liberal (but careful) application of silicone spray in plastic-to-plastic contact locations.

Can you believe a dealer that says "this is normal"? It may be common but it's NOT normal on an $80,000 car! Time to find a new dealer!

Not trying to derail wayne's topic...I have a similar "creak" in my driver's door armrest, I'm still under warranty and will have it checked later this month when I'm in for service.

I don't think I've ever experienced it, but those panels do come off easily. You could try stuffing a little adhesive foam behind them to take up any slack or movement that may be occurring. Just something to take up a little space that you know won't cause any noise or damage.

Try using some foam applicator pads in there, that seems to have worked for me
