2013 LS460 F-Sport
Hello,
I'm having a problem with my driver side headlight. They're the self adjusting ones so when I start the car I can see the faders move left to right to adjust however the left one then sets about 4 inches higher than the right side. Then when driving, the right side headlight turns as I turn on the road but the left side does not move at all. Is this normal??
Dealership said I have to replace headlight not sure how if the fader is moving though.
Thanks

No the warranty has expired unfortunately and the VSC on the car does not cover sealed beams. Dealership states that the light has to be replaced $ 2,200.
I'm just trying to see what could be the reason for it doing that. if the faders work why doesn't it work when the car is in motion.

The price of the headlight is actually $2,200 according to the part number sadly. Ebay has used ones for $ 900-1500 but I don't know. I can't figure out how the whole fixture needs replacing when it seems like it would be a computer issue (ie fuse or something) mechanically the fader moves so I'm not sure. as for now the headlight still works so I'm keeping it on until I find out more information.

I would escalate it. Those headlights are not "sealed beams", that should be covered under the extended warranty...the reason they don't cover "sealed beams" is to make it clear they don't cover burned out bulbs. This is a different matter.

I tried that but they both said that based on the part number that the dealership identified it's not covered sadly. I agree I thought it said sealed beams because that's a bulb but for a housing I can't figure out why its the case also. I'll try calling them back and seeing as well. Thanks

Here it is, straight from the VSC:
THESE ARE THE ITEMS NOT COVERED:
Accessory Drive Belts; Batteries; Body Panels; Brake Linings, Pads and Shoes, Rotors and Drums; Bumpers; Carpet; Chrome; Clutch Friction Disc and Pressure Plate; Dash Cover and Pad; Door Fabric; Door Trim; Filters; Fluids; Glass (including Windshields); Headliner; Heating Hoses, Lines and Tubes; Hoses; Hybrid Vehicle Battery Pack; Hybrid Vehicle Battery Plug Assembly; Hybrid Vehicle Relay Assembly; Hybrid Vehicle Supply Battery Assembly; Interior and Exterior Trim and Moldings (including but not limited to: Ashtrays, Covers, Cup Holders, and Vents); Lamps, Light Assemblies/Housings, and Light Bulbs; Nuts, Bolts, Clips, Retainers, and Fasteners; Paint; Rust and Corrosion Damage; Seat Covers; Sheet Metals; Shiny Metals; Spark Plugs; Structural Framework and Welds; Tires; Vacuum Hoses, Lines and Tubes; Weather Stripping; Wheels and Rims; Windshield Wiper Blades (Rubber component); All interior and exterior cloth, leather, and stitching including convertible tops and/or vinyl tops including but not limited to: any vibration, deterioration, discoloration, disfigurement, warping, fading, staining, stretching, ripping, punctures, tearing, and/or scratches.
I guess the interpretation of "Lamps, Light Assemblies/Housings and Light Bulbs" is at the sole discretion of Lexus. I would still give them a call - the headlight assembly probably costs them all of $50 from China.

Yeah I called them up and they gave me the same story. They said its not covered as it falls under the sealed beams, which I agree should apply only to bulbs as housings are not really beams.
Other than that, does anyone know why the problem could be happening with the headlight though?
