Interesting. I wonder the exact details (it refers to a few docs that are not there, like the software setup etc). I have a old Windows 7 x32 laptop (old dual core machine I got for nothing), that I only use for Techstream, always nice to check if a code comes up, or the steering wheel pull out on my old LS430 (as the tilt motor died), I could disable it with out going to the Lexus dealer. I am sure there is more tweaks for the 460, I just have not had the car that long.
I made a $10 offer on it, if he accepts, I'll give it a shot to see if it is possible for the consumer to do. If I am going to have to go to the dealer and pay them $100+ to do it, I might as well spend the extra and get the newest update for it.

Does the newest version get rid of the dumb warning screen ? What version was that addressed in ?

Keith, by upgrading you did rid yourself of pressing "I agree" to the warning every time you started the car.
Well, the original system had the Lawyer screen but it automatically went away after several seconds and honestly, I don't remember if it was any different after the update. Earlier generations of the Navigation System required you to touch the "I agree" message but my 2007 (with the 2006 maps) never did. I think it all depends on the Navigation System generation, not the maps database.

I have a 2007 LS460L, with the original Maps and I have to hit, I Agree at every start up.

Interesting, my 2007 has the 2006 maps as well (never updated, sigh), and I have to hit "I agree" every time I star the car. It's annoying...

Mine still has the warning screen..... but it does go away pretty quickly on it's own.
My 2005 Prius had the Gen 4 Nav system requiring you to touch the "I agree" message to get to the maps. My 2008 IS250 and 2007 LS460 had the gen 5 system and didn't require any intervention (the Lawyer message went away on its own after about 5-10 seconds). My 2010 Prius is the same with the Gen 6 Nav; not sure which generation Nav is in my 2014 LS. Changing the Nav map version won't eliminate the need to tough the "I agree" button, if you have that now.

Did your 2007 LS460 have the original map release that came with the car, or had it been updated. IIRC, the original maps required acknowledging the warning messages, subsequent updates didn't. The message would appear and time out after a few seconds. My 2010 takes 5 seconds or less to time out.
The original maps I had updated in my 2007 LS were from 2006 (as was the Gracenote database).
I updated the maps on my 2005 Prius from 2004 to 2008 and then 2011. Nothing changed on the system (warning screen - still had to touch it to get rid of it and still do) or the map updates, as far as I could tell, so I haven't updated them since in this car.

I wonder what the differences are, is there a software update for the car that fixes this ?
Like I say, I'm pretty sure the Lawyer screen was a firmware item, not a map (software) item, so I'm not sure what's going on here. My old car was an April 2007 build.

Maybe it's time to call Lexus.... If we can take 2 exact models (say 2007 LS460L) cars side by side, One you will have to hit "I agree" on the other car, it goes away after 10-15 seconds. If it's a firmware, can the one where you have to hit "I agree" be updated ?
Current pricing on a Dealer map update for my 2013 LS460 LWB is 360 plus tax in the NY Metro area. I just purchased this car a few weeks ago and unfortunately inquired about the map update after I agreed the price of the car. I am not doing the update at this price, I do recall seeing on another thread that map updates went on sale in the past so I will wait to see if that ever happens. For anyone yet to purchase a certified Lexus the time to talk pricing on the map update is before you sign the dotted line. Just thought I would put this info here for future readers of this thread. I did ask the Dealer if the update was included in the certification process and received the answer I expected -NO.
Dolph, depending upon where you live in NY and your typical driving area, the 2017 update may not add much to the 2012/2013 maps in your car. It may not be worth it. And like someone says earlier in the thread, cost of the update may be negotiable. I have a 2014 map for a car shipped to and sold in Manhattan. It's missing many of the details and recent construction in my area (Missouri/Iowa). But I have no intention of updating. These updates will sooner or later become obsolete. I mirror my iPhone to the Nav screen, and can get Google maps and directions on that screen. The initial investment for iPhone mirroring was substantial (about $700), but I am set for as long as Google Maps is free and updated (every day?).
