2013 LS460 lights will now turn off

Are you aware that your car (2015 LS460) allows you to customize the sensitivity of the Automatic Lights sensor? If you increase the sensitivity you might get the lights to come on closer to the onset of rain.

Mine would shut off lights without fail, since new, if left "on" while using the door handle button. Two days ago, I drained the battery by leaving the lights on, requiring a somewhat embarrassing jump start using a battery pack. All is good now, but I actively shut the lights off now to avoid the inconvenience. I have an '07.

They really should come on with the wipers.

Driving with only DRLs here in the rain is actually illegal, it's that way in most states now. DRLs don't activate your running lights in the rear either. In inclement weather for compliance with the law and safety your headlights need to be on.
Most cars with auto lights have lights that come in with the wipers. Lexus is behind there. Hell, my Dads 95 Cadillac had lights that came on with the wipers.

I just actually tested it and on my model-year car, and if I have the lights set to ON and turn the car off they stay on. As soon as I open the door, the lights go out. No need to press any button for me.

Hopefully I can simplify this, because I too, dislike this recent change Lexus made with the lighting logic.
Pre spindle front bumper redesign
If selector is set to "ON" or "AUTO" when you get out of the car and lock x2 it will shut off lights.
Post spindle front bumper redesign
If selector is set to "AUTO" when you get out and lock x2 it will shut off the lights.
If selector is set to "ON" It will BEEEEEP at you to turn off the lights when you open your door, and you can press the lock button until your FOB runs out of battery, but the lights won't shut off like they used to.
I have noticed that even with loaner cars, that after the model received the spindle bumper redesign, one of the many changes or "upgrades" included the new lighting logic. I am not saying this is because of the spindle bumper obviously, just noticed thats when these other changes happened.
Hope that clears some things up.

When I first got my LS, I thought it was broken when the lights didn't go on when it started raining. I've increased the sensitivity and they still don't reliably turn on with the rain. What genius forgot to add that logic to the car? Kind of defeats the whole purpose of 'auto'.
