Man this sucks. Oil is leaking again. Guess o ring replacement isn't enough. Thing is it was fine for a week then now leaks again.

Would replacing oil filter cap to genuine lexus part fix this then?

Provided it's indeed the housing that's leaking, I would say there's a hairline crack or warping of the housing somewhere. The next step (if it's the housing), would be to replace the entire unit - perhaps with the upgraded metal one the DevH has posted about.

 

My mechanic didnt see any crack on housing. He thinks I should change cap next.

 

I don't want to be the told you so guy but anything made from China is always suspect. It may look the same even fit the same but there is a lot more that goes into the manufacturing of a testing of a part. I don't mind taking a chance of Chinese made stuff and I do more often than not but when it comes to critical components like the oiling system I go with Japan made parts because their quality control is second to none.

How do I know if my housing in genuine or not?
It is metal.
I dont mind just changing whole housing but mechanic guy keep thinking its not necessary cuz he doesn't see anything wrong with it.
He trying to save me money. But I dont care.

 

It should say Toyota on it. I would also replace the entire filter and gasket as well and not reuse the old gasket because it may have deformed from the bad filter housing. You should also make sure the perforated tube is the correct length. Please check the link to my post which will give you more information so you know you did it right. While you're at it find a different mechanic, anyone worth their salt should know that poorly fitted parts is always the culprit if the experiencing it the second time. I bet his solution is another gasket.

 

So replace housing and cap and gasket?
He changed filter today also.

 

Yes new gasket because the old new one that the mechanic installed could be damaged because of the bad housing.
Why take chances only to find out that the new housing also leaks because you transferred over a bad gasket. Eliminate any possible scenario so you don't have to keep going to the mechanic.
