You can get the part cheaper on Ebay however you will need to replace the perforated tube that supports the filter.
That is why I suggested to get the part from Lexus or Toyota because there is no guesswork.
If MB dealership is picking up the bill just let them know you need a new oil filter housing. They might be able to source it cheaper through their dealer network and ship it to you overnight. Or you can go to Toyota and they should be able to look up the part for you and give you a cheaper price than what Lexus is charging.
The problem here is we do not know what kind of perforated tube the generic filter housing has so it makes it pointless if you get the one from eBay and not have a tube to swap it out with.

There are many things I might take a chance on and have a wait-and-see attitude but definitely not with the oiling system. It's an inexpensive way to get peace of mind.

Also keep in mind that you will need the oil filter drain plug that might be a separate part for the metal filter. I studied the generic filter by looking at pictures of it and it uses a different shaped drain plug so I don't think that's going to transfer over.

If the MB dealer has offered to pay the repair cost, why not just take it to a dealer and have the job diagnosed and repaired properly? Are they only offering to pay for the parts, not labor? Seems like you would want to take the guess work out of it and start enjoying your car.

dkang,
Here's the link for the LS 460 oil cap filter assembly part # 15650-38020.
You can also buy the one on e-bay # 15620-31060 as posted above and swap the perforated tube.
Check the link below and you will see that the oil cap assy itself is # 15620 (see picture)

I think you will be fine. Looking at the filter housing, anyone can easily confuse where O-ring should go, above or below the thread, if you put it above it will leak for sure. I have made this mistake before. It needs to be at the groove below the thread toward the outside away from the car body. Enjoy your new to you car!!

Good to hear but I would still replace the filter housing with a genuine Toyota part.

Thanks. After $300 auto detailing, took some shots. Car looks and feels brand new now. Just need wiper blade insert changed and all done.

Looks new inside.

Clean and shiny as if it just came off the showroom floor. A nice 460 to be proud of.

White/ivory gives a real old-school Cadillac feeling (and I mean that in a good way). Decadent and opulent.
