Default HDD music problems

Anyone have any info on HDD music playback issues? My music will play, but every 30-40 seconds, the music will stop for a few seconds and then resume playback. I suspect a faulty hard drive, but wonder if anyone has any workarounds or a way to reformat the drive, etc.

Really? No other members with an issue or input???

Figures...one of the only issue I've had and it's one that nobody else has! LOL.

Well, it's a standard 2.5" laptop HDD. I've had those go out on laptops far newer than 2008 vintage! Unfortunately, it's not just a matter of reformatting the drive, as the proprietary software must be reloaded also. When this happens, they just replace the drive at the going stealership rate.

Good luck and please report back how this plays out.

Maybe it's not the HDD, but that some music files were corrupted. Try downloading some new music from a CD and see what happens.

You nailed it my friend.

Loaded up a new CD and it seems to work. So.....guess I'll spend a few hours reloading my tunes.

Yes indeed Crowe! The only one upset over this minor problem, is my wife....the previous owner had a whole bunch of Beatles albums loaded up and I am not a fan of them (I know, I know- one of the few Beatles haters), so no Beatles albums to load.

I lost patience with the HDD after I realized I had to rip the whole CD in real time. Itunes completely spoiled me in this regard. Is there some other way to do it?

So I spent the $250 on the Vaistech MML and have never looked back. USB, Ipod, it does all of it seemingly. And much faster to load up and easier to troubleshoot if something goes wrong.

HI,

Just got 09 LS Loaded.

I have no manuals and still learning about all the tech stuff this car has.

to store music files onto the HD, what format do you need to burn file onto

You mention "real time"

so mp3 or .aiff needs to convert to real time?

Thanks

You can download the album in quick mode. Only takes a few minutes to download that way. It's in your settings.

Just insert/load the CD into your CD drive and select record. You can adjust the settings from there and also only load certain songs that you select from that CD. You can also delete tracks after the album has burned to your HDD.
