Default 2008 LS 460 Brake Question

So I purchased my brakes online NOT knowing no mechanics will install them for you! LOL

I have a friend who can do this for me, he does all his brake work, don't think he's ever worked on a Lexus before.

Question. Is there any type of literature I can bring to help during the installation process? Just incase we run into a few snags?

I have purchased both front and back sensors.

I am meeting him in 3 hours.

Sensors doesn't need to be replace unless it has been tripped. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...rake-pads.html

Yes, they have been tripped. I get the warning on the dash.

No mechanic will install them because??????

This is as basic a brake job as you can get. No sorcery involved. UNLESS YOU open a brake line. Pad and rotor replacement is basic...same with the sensors.

You have some whack *** mechanics in your area! As it's been said, changing brakes on the ls is as basic as you can get. Do it yourself, easiest brake job you will ever do.

Lame excuse . Shops will not give you warranty on the pads but they can install them.
I buy my own pads for my IS, RX and G sedan and my mechanic installs them.
Have not tried the LS though.

Found a friend to do them and it took 2 hours. Nobody ever told me the sensors are on the RIGHT side. Anyway, we replaced the front RIGHT sensor and the warning stopped and the brakes work. =]

I'm happy!

Yes both sensors are on the right side. What sensor did you replace on the left side, or did you mean right? Just curious, but did the old pads have a lot of life left?

There are no sensors on the LEFT side. That's what I am trying to inform everyone.

So now when I go over some speed bumps in my hood, I can hear some small rattling. Does anyone have a clue to what this is? I am FAR from an expert, but I believe something wasn't put on tight enough?

Check the rattle spring/clip for the noise you are experiencing now.

On my 3gs I had the same problem. I bought a new brake kit which includes the rattle clips. Solved the rattling problem. There like 30 bucks from your local dealer.

Ugg sounds like massive amounts of work. LOL

Are these rattle clips on this website where I purchased the brakes?
