LS remote start install DIY
#317
Just ordered mine yesterday for my 2007 LS460.
I emailed Toby about this and he replied:
“You will NOT push the brake at any time…. just follow the instructions exactly. If you mess it up, just try it again. You can hurt anything if you don’t do it right.”
For ttaps as shimbumi mentioned earlier. Ditch the ttaps and go with soldering or as I think he referred to “military splicing”.
Toby mentioned t:
”Unfortunately 3M doesn’t make a t-tap that is small enough to make a consistent connection on the small wires of the Lexus. And they don’t make a t-tap large enough for the 12 volts connection.”
im gonna ditch the ttaps and go with soldering.

So did you get it working? I want to order the DBall 3 for my 2013 LS but wanted to make sure others were having success with this? I got quoted $200 for labor only for the install. When I questioned that amount being high, they said it's because they offer lifetime warranty of labor. Should I shop around? That seems high to me but they quoted me $150 to install my VLine 2 which seems reasonable. With some of the issues that others seem to be reporting with trying to get this install correct, I want to make sure that I'm covered to get this done right. I cannot do this type of thing myself. Just taking off panels would give me angst.

When i did my 07 with smart start i used Posi-taps. They come in a variety of sizes and you can remove them with really no wire damage. Mine went in smooth still works to this day.

I used T Taps one time and it didn't change anything so I took them off. I must add that was my first time using them and it made things a breeze.

Also for people with big hands who are having a hard time getting to the wires you need to add the T-TAP to... disconnect the battery of the car. Then just unplug the plugs on the ECU one by one, it gives you more range to get a solid connection on it. I was having a hard time getting in there on the exact wire, after an hour trying that, I pulled the battery/plug, it took about 15 min for me to finish it up.
Just make sure you disconnect the battery before unplugging the ECU cables...

Finally got mine installed on my 2007 LS460. Got it already flashed for my car from Toby@BroadfieldCustoms.com
The “programming” is the easy part. The “flashing” I did not wanna get into so bought it from Toby already flashed. Toby also remove the many confusing Extra wires that are unnecessary. The wires that make the same connection he twists them for you just so you don’t confuse them. He also sends u all the wiring instructions circling what you need in Red, what’s optional in green, and what to forgo crossed out.
I got a good electrician do the job and I’m so happy I did. Install looks too easy on paper but in reality it can be a mess u don’t wanna get into. Most wires are also very thin which can require a skilled electrician to do any splicing and soldering even harder of course.
I took a couple of pics and hope they help.
On the instruction sheet, it said Wire #3 should attach to a Lexus gray wire (mine was black), and wire #4 should attach to LEXUS wire Red (mine was white).
