Okay....need you guys with a little more car knowledge to help me out with this button that can raise or lower the height of my 2012 LS. Is this just a gimmick thing or is there a practical use for it? Does either high or low help the gas mileage? I did not have this on my 2008 LS, and not something I was looking to have, but it just happened to be on this particular vehicle. Thanks for any info on this.....I did not find much helpful info in the car manual.
the Low or standard setting will always be aerodynamically better and thus better for gas mileage.
The "Height High" button raises the car about 1.5" (somebody can correct me on the exact height) and is for rougher terrain such as a deeply pitted driveway or bad country road.
I have been driving around in Height High recently just for the added comfort of the longer travel, but now sure if this is good for the car or not. (anybody have any thoughts on this?)
the height button only raises the car its pretty good for going into or out of areas where lets say a driveway is quite steep and you dont want to scrap the front/rear bumper then you press that button and it raises the car I think an inch or 2 (not really sure on exactness). For as gas mileage purpose i dont know of any andvantages. Overall its not a bad thing to have it just means that your car has an air suspension setup.
It's great if the car is over weight with luggage and passengers. If your going thru a Car wash it's a great option to raise the car so the bottom doesn't comes in contact with the tire brushes. One other thing it's used for oil changes.
Thanks for the comments. It appears to be on High right now but think I'll give low a try and see if I do get any improvement at all on the gas mileage. I realize it wouldn't be much, but every little bit helps, right?

In my experience with A/S cars, including my old LS430 with air, the car will never "sag". The A/S system automatically adjusts ride height and level based on weight so "height high" isn't necessary for passengers/luggage.
One way to test this is to load your car up with a few big guys and when you reach your destination jump out and check the ride height. you will see that the car looks as though it's had a lift kit installed!
The sensors are in place so when you fill the car up wit a few hundred pounds of fuel ride isn't effected.
So exactly how does this button work? Should I feel the car rise or lower when I push the button? I would see the light on the dash light up when in "high" mode, but I did not feel the car move nor did I hear anything. The car manual was totally useless on this.

if you put your car in park and open the door with one leg out the door you can feel the car rising up slowly.
I used the high setting in the winter and when there was low clearance. Also in parking lots so the front of my car did not hit the cement block in the front of the parking space.
The 04 UL manual clearly states that the high position is for low speed cases when additional clearance is helpful. Definitely not for highway crusing!
I only use that for steep driveways or if there is significant water while going slow speeds..never for cruising. The bags filled with air does not ride comfortable at all so not sure what yall are talking about. Normal setting with comfort mode is best for highway imo. Sport is best when on twisties or if driving aggressive at high speed. The oem system automatically Lowers the car at around 65mph sustained for a couple minutes based on what I have observed with my data controller on suspension graphical level screen. Putting it in sport will make it less cushy
