I have viewed the info about fuel rails and valve springs- those have been done. I can see the bushings in the control arms cracking, but have no bad manners yet. So...

Has anyone posted a DIY on the control arms?

Does anyone have a way to get the service manual?

wpm66, I'm going to be lazy here, but if you do a search in this forum for "control arms" you should bring up several threads on this topic.

Black Moon, there were recalls for the fuel rail, valve springs and idler pulley on the 2007 models. There is no expiration date for these items. Check the service history of your vehicle for these items to see if they were done. If they weren't you can have a dealer do them at no cost to you.

To the OP - be sure to get a Lexus Platinum extended warranty. There are other cheaper sources out there than the local Dealer - do a search.

The control arm replacement is covered by the Platinum warranty - a $3K repair.

 

Ebay sells aftermarket control arms for a lot less then the dealer

Thanks, nospinzone. I checked mine out and my vehicle s not in the vin recall range.

 

eBay has LS control arms (upper if lower) for cheap. You can even buy the bushing themselves and swap out for a hundred bucks or so.

I haven't tried it myself but since the original is so crappy it break up that quickly I would give aftermarket a shot if. Need to replace them (and for that price you can't really go wrong). I would just get the whole arm for a few bucks more i save all the troubles since you have to press out the old bushing and press the new one on. Unless you are a mechanic and have a press and all ...
