2007 LS460, how long should it last?
I hope yours lasts. Everything on this car is finicky and crazy expensive to fix. Good luck.
Face it, you tried to save some money, did a maintenance task poorly, and you ruined your car. Thats your fault. Not an issue with the quality or reliability of the car.
If you don't put the wrong spark plugs into it and drop stuff into the engine then run it, it will last just fine. Will it be problem free? Will it be inexpensive to maintain or as inexpensive as an ES? No...its a serious car, a very expensive car and maintenance and repair/part costs reflect that.
There's a thread where someone hydro locked their engine and have it in a million pieces to rebuild it. Your dealer is lazy. Go to an Indy specializing in Japanese vehicles and run it by them. It won't be cheap, but it'll be cheaper than a 15000 dollar used motor.
Hey look, I wasn't going to chime in, but for the benefit of my fellow forum runners as well as prospective Lexus owners, more specifically, LS owners, I felt compelled to share y 2 cents.
First, I'm sorry the OP feels as though the car has failed him in regards to its quality.
However, it's been clearly stated here that much of these issues, are to be expected, as they are simply wear items. It happens. But I won't continue to beat a dead horse here.
What I really wish to express is that because of the quality caliber of members in this forum:
Tee, Roadfrog, Devh, Double base, greg3852, CJIITY, jmcraney, nospinzone just to name a few...they assisted me, in not only purchasing the LS I now currently own, but with the few repairs I have done so far.
A brief synopsis:
I purchased my vehicle in late January 2015; 07 LWB 65k. I've had to have a road force balance, brake change out-pads and rotors, full set (which didn't really NEED to be done, I just didn't like the noise/grab I was receiving from P>D and/or R>D), which I did in my garage for a few hundred bucks.
And just recently, I replaced my water pump at 68k. Since I can't RFB my wheels in my garage, I let Lexus do it, but the other two repairs I did myself, thanks to this forum. I personally can't thank guys enough! From research, I learned that this car is relatively easy to work on with the right tools and patience, which is in part why I bought the car.
Here's to hoping the best to the OP and a huge round of gratitude for the great members here.
Great, great forum!
Celebrating Lexus & Toyota from Around the Globe
I am new to this forum. I just purchased a used 2007 LS 460 yesterday from a Honda dealership. I used to have many Mercedes but they all gave me headache. My mom has a 1992 ES 300 with 390,000 miles on it and she said the ES feels better than her new Nissan altima. So I switch to Lexus for reliability.
Currently the LS has 87500 miles on it. The previous owner took very good care of it. He maintained it every 5k miles and all from Lexus dealer. But information is missing after 70k mile. But I bought it from a large dealer so I assume they tune it up before they sold it to me.
My question is, is 87k mile a lot for a 2007 LS? What should I do next to keep it running well? There is no information regarding brake change on carfax, and I felt the car shakes when I brakes.
Thank you in advance.
Since then, I have changed the oil & filter, replaced the front brake rotors/pads, ATF, differential oil, hood support struts, cleaned the MAF sensor & throttle body, buffed the left side headlight, lubricated the throttle pedal, touched up the scratches on the bumpers & body. I did all of these jobs myself except the front brakes I paid an independent shop $125 labor (I got TRQ brake rotor & pads on Amazon for $161). My car runs super smooth & better than when I got it last month. The steering wheel no longer shakes & no more grinding sound from the brakes. But I still get this funky, faint du du du du sound when I apply the brakes, is it normal? The aftermarket brakes are great and silent though & stops well. Hopefully, I will have a long trouble-free ride from now on.
