Default LS 460 Lights

Hey guys new here and curious of course....so I was looking at the new LS and wanted to know does the dual HID projectors ever run both at the same time?

I know that the outer HID's run the low lights and high beam but when does the inner HID turn on?

Thanks!

1st Welcome to CL.. i believe the inner high beam is halogen not hid..but it should turn on when the low beam is on but if your fogs are on then they (fogs) will turn off as long as the high beams are on

The 2013 LS has standard bi-xenon HID headlights. Both low and high beams are HID. If you run low beam, only the outer projectors turn on. The inner projectors (as well as outer) turn on when the high beam in on. The high beam on 2007-2012 LS is halogen which also functions as DRL. 2013 LS has dedicated LED DRL.

Yes, you're right about the 2013 LS has LED DRL. The reason I was asking about the HID low and high beams is because I asked a guy in the parking lot the other day about his lights. He showed me with the low and high beams when turned on and the only HID's that lit up were outer ones.

Maybe they both come on only at night?

Thanks for quick replies.

I was checking out a 2013 LS F Sport at a dealer a month ago. This car has LED headlights. I turned on high beam (early afternoon on a bright day) on the switch but only the low beams were lit. The salesman said high beam won't turn on if it's not dark. I think if you saw the same phenomenon with HID version of the LS in the parking lot, it's safe to say high beam only comes on at night. Also, I believe that for the HID headlight on the 2013 LS, there is only 1 light bulb on each side of the car. Both low/high beams share the same light bulb. I read the bulb chart in the owner's manual, only saw 1 kind of bulb for the headlight.

is there such a module that you can add inline to have LED DRL's for an 08 LS460?
something like the ISX50's have that you can change out to an LED bulb with say like 102SMD's and add in an inline module to fix the check light and have the operate as DRL's during the daytime with no issue

Yes, i believe it has been done before. I know the IS and GS guys have done it..do a search and it should yield results...search on LED DRL 9005 or LED DRL high beam

i'm curious how the hid high beams function.. because hids need a lil bit to "warm up" if u use them to flash(the only reason i use mine) i'd expect them to burn out rather quickly..

I had HID high beams on my RX330 and would use them frequently just to flash, or illuminate for a few moments (seldom used them for extended periods of time unless I was in the middle of nowhere) and the same bulbs and ballasts lasted for over a year and a half, I traded the car in and they were still working. It was a cheap pair of HIDs but they worked fine. I just had to disable my DRL because the high beam is also the DRL in the RX. I could have just been lucky, but in all honesty, really never had an issue with it!
