Default Flash high beams also flashes HID low beams??

With HID lowbeams ON, moving the lever forward for high beams turns the incandescent high beams ON in addition to the low beams. Makes sense.
But with no headlights on, pulling the lever to briefly flash high beams also flashes the HID lowbeams?
Is this they way they are to work?
I do not want to wear the HID lamps when I flash high beams.
Is there a way to identify and sever the high beam flash wire from igniting the HID lamps?

Thank you.

This is normal behavior and little to be concerned about. I had my IS300 with HIDs for almost 12 years and and bulbs were still in a fine condition when I sold it.

Gee, how often do you flash high beams??? In designing today's better vehicles, every user-op circuit, switch, relay, etc. is tested for up to 1,000,000 cycles. I don't think you have any chance to wear them out.

I do much delivering of blood at night. Must sometimes flash oncoming drivers, who, like me, forget high beams are on..

Igniting HID lamps causes the most erosion of the electrodes.
No need to flash them. Overkill. They are also terribly expen$ive.

Oh, yeah...I recall you. Aren't you the person who wanted to know how to delete the speed limiter, so you could exceed 112 miles per hour while delivering blood?

My comment about not wearing out the lamps still stands. The person who commented before me had his HID-equipped vehicle for 12 years, and never wore them out. I hope yours will last as long. Do you qualify to have a yellow "caution" strobe on your vehicle? If so, that would be a more effective way to go then flashing headlights. Good luck, either way.

Wanted to know what top speed is. No plan to defeat the governor.

The vehicle is an authorized emergencyehicle with red lights and siren.
The high beam incandescent bulbs alternately flash with the light bar's "take down" lights. I did not connect the HID lamps to the wig-wag circuit. Would probably kill them in no time.

On non emergent transports I sometimes need to flash the high beams. Seems like too much to flash ALL FOUR lamps at dusk or dawn.
At night the HIDs are already on, so just occasionally flashing the high beams at drivers, who, like me, forget high beams are on.

Hi and Low beam bulbs are cheap, if you dont buy them from the dealer.

The factory ballast lasts a very long time also, had a 07 gs450h and it lasted more than 262k, before I hit a deer and it totalled the car.

and from 145k to 262k I drove Uber 99% at night.

My current ride is 2013 es300h and at 197k miles now all original 2013 factory parts.

I'm sure RurbertGurft will be super grateful to know this, only 5 years after his post.
