Default High beam Hid conversion?

I was thinking of converting my High beam 9005's to hid using a conversion kit. Has anyone tried this and how did it turn out? pictures would be nice. I would like to see some pictures of cut off. Also I would think that that would make lights bright as hell when high beams were on. being all 4 lights would be on and hid. I know all the benefits of retrofiting high beams, but im not into dropping that much money into high beams. I will propably do low beams retro. Let me know if anybody has done this and how it looks.

pitman200- i have them in my car and you can see for MILES with them on. they come in extra handy when driving back and forth to CA and when you have people doing 45mph in the far left lane on the freeway.

I want to do that too, bi-xenon retrofit in the lows, plus HID in the high beam reflector, it'll be like daylight for miles

I have bi-xenon 50W in the lows. Was going to put an HID kit in the highs but you have disable the DRL first before you can install a kit in there if not the bulbs will just flicker and probably burn out prematurely.

Then I guess you shouldn't have a problem as far as the DRL. Bi-xenon is a projector that works like a highbeam because it has a motor that moves the shield inside the projector and exposes more light.

And it functions as a low beam too.

Lol yea but the only thing is you have to splice into your highbeam wires so that when you pull the stalk back it will send current to the motor telling it to move the shield back.

The problem with HID in the highbeam is that the bulbs take 10-15 seconds to warm up and get to full brightness so hence the bi-xenon, the bulb is already on it just gets more light exposed plus you can still do the HID in the highbeams and have even more light.

For long distance driving, it will be fine, but when you go to flash somebody, you will burn out the bulb and possibly fry the ballast.

Be sure to put some in your fog lights too.

try it man! the good thing about high beam hid's is that all the usual negatives of low beams are non existent. no worries about glare, or cutoff, since we just want maximum light output forwards. for the cost of an ebay $72 kit, it's well worth trying it.

I've been wondering about this lately... if you put an HID in the high beam and it does take x.x seconds to come on will it still pass inspection? I hate the reflector bowls and want to do the high beam retrofit when I do the low but I don't want any hassles when I get the car inspected.
