LS460 AWD Jerking on low speed
Hi everybody,
My new LS460 AWD 2008 is jerking on 60-80KPH(37-50)MPH, when you driving without any acceleration.
I have only 900km on odometer. And it's started jerking from 0.
I gave my to Lexus for a test.
They tested it over 7 days, and now they are saying nothing is wrong with it. And it's normal for AWD version.( WHAT???? )
They have one more new AWD 2008 and it has the same jerking issue.
Anybody with AWD, please test it, may be you have the same problem?

Welcome to the forums, klim123123. The LS 460 AWD is still in its first year, so we don't have a lot of owner members yet, but hopefully someone will be able to provide some comparison info...

Yes, my car is exactly the same. Only happens at about 35-40 MPH with very light touch on gas pedal. I had a tech drive it with me and he said it was OK and that it was just the transmission searching for a gear.
I don't know why this is so prominant on the AWD.
It was much worse when the car was new. I think as the transmission learns your habits, it starts to go away. I have about 9,000 miles so far, and it's still there, but hardly noticable.

Mine was also 9/08.
I don't see this as a big problem as the problem seems to subside -- although it would be an easy mod because it's probably just a mapping issue. I suspect it's the added resistence in the front drivetrain that's making it want to downshift. For me, it all but went away after about 2,000 miles. So, maybe it just needs to break in a little.

Man... totally glad I saw this post when browsing the forum. I too experienced the same exact thing as you described only at 40 mph.
Took it to the dealer.. they thought I was crazy. Glad to know I'm not...
It would appear though that after 5K the issue is getting better.

So, after 5k you can't find this problem anymore? Or it's still present, but it's slightly?

My car did this one time for approximately five seconds. It happened the morning after I joined this forum. The 5K maintenance had just been done. I would describe it as “lurching.” What I felt could not possibly be described as “normal.” It lurched 8 - 10 times. It was gentle, like a big giant hand pushed - stopped - pushed - stopped. Speedometer said 40 MPH. Speed was steady. Car had been running 5 - 10 minutes. Temp was probably 35 F or so.
I had read this thread so I said “crap.”
My car is a 2009 bought in December 2008 with 70-some miles on it. I don’t know when it was made.
2008 AWD? Russia is always ahead of us. 2009 was the first model year LS AWD in the US, I think.
I will keep you apprised and continue to read this thread.
