I just sent off the email to order the nav hack for my ls, but I would really like to be able to use my ipod with my stereo system as well. Does anyone have both of these hacks together working?
I will try and find the link to the ipod hack if people say they don't know where to get that.
I have both the Vaistech iPod integration unit (http://www.vaistech.com/) as well as the Nav Override from Prestigious Society in my 2007 LS 460L. Both work flawlessly. One of the most frequent reasons I activate the Nav Override is to be able to view details about songs and playlists that are otherwise disabled on the Vaistech while in motion.
As a bonus the iPod unit has a function that automatically presses the "I agree" button a few seconds after turning the car on.
My installations were done at different times but it would be less labor to install them together. Both are plug and play.
Sounds like a great setup, supposedly also Toyota now has an iPod integration kit but I don't know if it works on Lexus, and the NAVI hack is separate of course.
Like some small iPod entertainment devices, it allows control of "certain limited" functions to the car, like Fwd & Rev. Ir won't allows any video based functions like Cover Flow, so if you're expecting full-functionality, you'd be better to stick to the Aux port's limitations. In the car, I generally place the iPod in Shuffle mode anyway.
I avoid using the iPod most of the time because of its much lower sound quality.
Can someone explain to me in detail what the ipod hack does? My car has an ipod jack in the arm rest.
Without the ipod interface, the only way to control the ipod is with the ipod itself...which is hard to do while driving. The interface allows the buttons in the LS to control the ipod.
