Question for you LS guys. I recently purchased the GS460 currently with about 800 miles on it. The transmission acts a bit erratic and is a bit rough before the vehicle warms up. I was just wondering if any of you have had this issue. Could it be because it is new or is this a trait of the 8 speed tranny when the vehicle is still cold? Any ideas would be appreciated.
I have had my LS since Dec 06 with almost 17000 miles on it. My transmission has been flawlessly smooth since day one. Almost no difference at all between cold or warmed up. The only thing that we have had with the LS is that when we sit at a stop light for more than about 30 seconds the car will shift into a neutral mode and then when you start out it has a slight lurch forward. This has been addressed by an update at the dealer but I have not done it to mine yet.
Your GS was most likely delivered with the fix already.
This feature was supposedly put in to give the LS an extra 1/4 MPG.
I looked at our dealer materials for any TSBs or common complaints for a new GS and so far there aren’t any problems with the transmission shifting rough reported through Lexus. I also didn't see any common problems listed for the new LS that would indicate problems with the 8 speed transmission. I will speak with our diagnostic specialist to see if he's heard anything, but since I'm in Texas, we don't get a lot of "cold" weather until mid December or so.. Other than that, if I were in your shoes, I would probably take your GS back to Lexus and ask them to take a look at it.

Thanks for the info. I will have to wait for more GS460s to roll out to see if others experience the same issue. I will definitely bring it to the attention of the dealership.
So what part of TX do you reside? I move out to the OC from Austin.

I'm in Dallas. But i've got a lot of family in Austin. Love the people down there. Everyone is so easy going.
