Just had a company install the over ride. It works by tricking the car into thinking that you aren't moving. I can use all the features on my NAV, IPOD and phone while driving. Also, no more hitting "accept" when starting the car.
My IPod is fully integrated into my audio controls...can use steering wheel controls as well as touch screen.
Only downside is the "voice directions" of the NAV won't guide you while in the over ride...nor will the NAV re-route you to your destination if you stray from the course. So basically you flip the switch when you need that assistance. So it's not a perfect world...but it is much better than before.
I don't want to give out the company info yet since I just got it and would want see if there are any other issues.
I got my LS460 back in November and have loved it everyday...but now with the wind noise issue and the over ride issues resolved....this is the greatest car!

Is it a switch on the NAV screen ?
4- What happens if you had a phone call HANDSFREE and during that conversation you switched the nav hack off for voice directions & re-route does it disconnect the call ?
5- How did they manage to do that ? Software Hack or is it playing around with the wires and where can it be done.
How will this information help me if I don't know who to contact to purchase the hack kit and who can install it? More specific information is requested. Thank you.

As mentioned, check the IS and GS forums here as the wire cutting/switch alternative has been around a while now. Details and some photos I believe are in these other CL forums.

I'm in CA as well...so when you feel comfortable letting us know the company, I'd be interested. Are you in Southern CA?

i believe someone tried it and said the method doesn't work well enough since the ls has new generation of nav
>Only downside is the "voice directions" of the NAV won't guide you while in

So the voice prompts are out, but the nav is actually working?
Since the hack essentially eliminates the speed signal going into the brain, the following features might not work anymore:
1. ASL (automatic sound level)
2. Car position update while driving in tunnels
3. Automatic door locking when car starts moving
4. Average speed meter in the small display
5. The 130 MPH electronic speed limiter
6. Hold feature might engage prematurely
Will this company cover the Lexus warranty period since the dealer likely will not touch it once its been tampered with?
Also why not give up the insurance on the car because I have no doubt that smart lawyer who is defending a victim of a car accident or defending the insurance company will obtain the records of the modification and use it against the owner in determining cause and responsibility for the accident.
What is stupid about the entire thing is that I find it more dangerous not having the ability to search and direct the car toward gas stations when I am on the highway. Even if their is a shoulder to stop on so that you can access the NAV is still dangerous on a highway. Also in many cases a passenger could be working the NAV.
I guess if everybody would just buy cars that allow access to the NAV while driving, the other manufacturers would reconsider.
