Default 2011 Easy exit not working

2011 ls460 sport. 49K orig miles. (garage car)

Car has sat a lot in the past couple years. I try to drive it at least once a month. But had to charge the battery once or twice.

Anyway, the easy exit is not working. I know the setting. But with it off, at least the steering wheel auto-retracts. With it on, partial or full. The seat or the steering wheel does not work.
I even tried to reset my memory seat setting in case that had something to do with it. Did not fix and the memory seat settings still work fine. Also, when is easy exit supposed to work. For just a split second I can hear the steering wheel try to retract. Which usually starts first before the seat automatically goes back. I think that is what i hear not sure.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

More threads, including a youtube of the similar design LS430 :

From the last(below) thread:

I had occasional noise from the steeringcolumn, after lubricating the mechanism with silicon grease, the noise went away.

If I remember correctly, you need to retract the wheel all the way up then it is possible to remove the lower panel of the steeringcolumn.

To get more relevant threads, like the above, do a search in the 4th gen sub-forum using the search term "Steering column".

Please report back with any fixes that you might find.

P.S. I am very close to buying an LS600h from Japan as a private import.

I am specifying as part of the inspection process that the tilt/telescope function be fully checked, documented, and certified working before I pay the deposit, so this aspect is quite important to me.

With mine, there are no problems with the steering wheel go in or out. Or up and down. When I use the switches. Or if easy exit is OFF. And then the wheel retracts when I cut off the car. Works fine. The problem is just when easy exit is turned on. Only then does the steering wheel not retract, and the seat does not go back. With easy exit turned off. Everything works as it should

Hi, First, wanted to say thanks for the help. I now feel like an idiot. But on the plus side I found the problem. About a month ago I installed one of those seatbelt extensions. Extends the receiver about 3" and the new button to unbuckle is easier to see.and feel. Back surgery, so it helped and made it easy to unbuckle the seat. belt.
Installed it but never drove the car for a few weeks. And sort of forgot about it.

But with it installed, the car still thinks the seatbelt is still in use. So the seat did not go back.

It is worthwhile discussing these things.
I use an extende in my current car.
And I will possibly need to in my new LS600 when it arrives.
I am now aware of this matter.
Thank you.
