Noisy telescopic steering column
Hi.
I've started to get a noise from the electric steering column. When you get into the car the wheel comes out to meet you and strangely it's only making a noise on the way out. Up and down and going back in are fine. It's a sort of grinding or groaning noise like something rubbing.
2007 LS460
anyone any ideas?
thanks

If you can't find the source of the noise and can't fix it, and if you drive the car the most of time (not frequently share the car with another driver) and don't need the steering wheel to automatically retract and then come out every time when you get out and get in the car, I would just get a copy of TechStream on eBay and use it to disable the automatic retracting and extending function. Problem is solved, sort of.

Mine (07 LS460) started to make noise and after a week it has stopped working. I can hear the motor running, but no movement. I am going to take apart the steering cover today to see what can be done. Anyone that has done this, please post. I will try to take pics and post as well (if I repair it).
