And let me clarify this is preventative maintenance. I don’t have to do it right this second there’s nothing wrong with mine. I was just gonna start buying the components that I would need so I wouldn’t be scrambling just in case.

There’s a few kits on AliExpress if that’s something you’re after. Quality won’t be the same as OEM but if it lasts 2 years you're already in the green.

I have a Ls600h but I’m pretty sure the control arms are the same with the Ls460 AWD.

Same company does sell the upper/lower separately as well so you can make your own kit if need be.

I had mine swapped by a mechanic last year, I had the lower forward and uppers replaced. It’s improved stability at higher speeds with a noticeable improvement above 50mph. Ride quality is unchanged.

The AliExpress ones are probably lower quality than the OEM ones which lasted 13 years but I doubt I’ll have the car in 2038 to justify OEM. For a complete set of OEM front control arms, I could have bought the kit AliExpress 5 times over so it was a no brainer for me.

If it lasts 3 years I’d be happy to buy another set, given that control arms are a consumable on the 4th gen LS it’ll probably have to be replaced anyhow.

Ok I fully understand that and I’m thinking the same thing. Plus not going to be putting much miles on the car and when I do will be highway.

Those four bushings are for the front upper arms only. They will probably take more noise and end up being rougher than what you have now. If my arms all went bad tomorrow I'd buy a set of arms for replacement and then get a couple of bushings and see how they are to press out and in out of those skinny aluminum arms I took out before committing to a whole set.

I need a little clarification. How do you know if the control arms are bad? The reason I asked this is because driver side front whenever I hit any little bumps and or rough road sounds like a knocking. When I had this in another Toyota before it turned in to my strut assembly. So I don’t wanna go replacing parts that don’t have to just because.

Have you checked your front stabiliser bar "D" bushes?

I purchased my 2004 Mitsubishi Diamante/Magna V6 AWD 10 years ago, which is about 500lb/300 kg lighter than a 460 AWD but of similar overall size.

The first job I did, other than an oil change, was to find the "knocking" noise in the front end.

Based on other forum member recommendations I headed straight for the front bushes as described.

Then 95,000 miles/151,000km traveled.

Performed at home in the driveway, and $30 for Superpro 23mm Polyurethane(instead of softer genuine) D bushes, that eliminated the knocking noise over bumps.

The standard bushings were visibly worn, allowing metal to metal contact between bar and chassis.

Still noise free 50,000miles later.

Improved turn in.

I think this weekend I’m going to jack up and start moving the wheel around. Look at bushing etc. maybe I can mimic the noise. Sway bar bushings of course could be that. I just watched a video where a 2007 ls460 had one side sway bar snapped off just making noise. So let’s see. Thank you.

This video could be useful.

Everything Wrong With My 240,000 Mile Lexus LS460

About 6 minutes is spent using a pry bar to probe bushing wear on the suspension on a 240,000 mile LS 460.

I hope you can reply with your findings.

Well I finally had 5 mins to myself. I determined that it looks like both front left lowers are bad. Lots of play in the bushing. Loud metal clicking noise when driving. I’m not good at taking pictures and writing a story but I’m going to be buying beck/arnley. Let’s see how the go and if it fixes issue
