Default Sway bar swap

I had the dealer try to install a set of 2010 f40 sway bars on my base 2008 ls460.

bars hit components in the suspension. Could not use. Had to remove. Reinstall front bar.

‘Rear requires subframe removal. $$$$

Anyone run into this issue?

Did you buy the right drive type? AWD vs RWD?

That part number only fits RWD.

I applaud your effort to improve handling, and by ordering parts meant for other model years! Quite certain I would not have gambled on these particular parts though because the 6 or 7 parts sites I checked did not list fitment for 2008s or for mine which is a 2007. I believe the first refresh years were 10-12, so I guess it's a bit of a surprise the front sway bar did not fit considering the control arms are interchangeable. I wonder if the slight diameter increase is the reason, or were you able to compare the two side by side, as far as the shape/design?

I recall you mentioning purchasing the larger bars and was hoping it would work out: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...l#post11235529

As far as the rear bar, a few of us had a discussion about it and how much work it would take just to access to switch out the bushings. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...ng-change.html

my 08 is a base RWD. Would an air suspension 2010 car have different bars than a spring car. Thanks for the help.

we’re all f40 sports air suspension? Different arms?

almost looked like a 2010 sport f40 models frame mounting points were spaced away from the 2008 frame. Shims do not show in fiche. Maybe a frame mod to space away the bar? Anyone have a f40 that can look in that area

I forgot to add that the part number is for 2009-12 RWD.

Mine's a 2007 L so I'm not familiar first hand with the 10-12's "sport tuned air suspension" that Lexus called it. However, from what I recall, it was only available on RWD models, and I would suspect the air struts are similar but have a different dampening rate/oil for more taut handling at the expense of a stiffer ride. The newer, refreshed lower rearward control arms (the #2 arm for RWD models, 4862050131, 4864050131) is listed on parts sites for 2013-17 models; however, a good number of us here have installed them w/o any issues, including myself. Furthermore, the parts sites have only 2 numbers (4881050020, 4881050030) for the stabilizer bar links that seem to cover all model and sub-model years from 2007-17.

Although the bar ends should link/line up in the same position, this info leads me to believe the sports suspension stabilizer (sway) bar may not be a direct bolt-on for our non-sports/F models due to one or a combination of the following: collars/mounts position, increased diameter, design/shape. If one was set on using the sport sway bar, with some customizing and ingenuity, drilling and tapping to create new mounting locations could be a possibility. Obviously, we cannot rely on parts sites to show accurate depictions of the thousands of parts. Below is my sway bar from MAR 2021 when I installed all new front control arms and sway bar end links and poly bushings. (vs parts sites)
