Installed Tesla style screen for my 2007 Lexus Ls 460 I thought everything was plug and play now I am missing the feed from my back up camera and radio does not play as loud. Is it bypassing my factory amp? And do I need an additional harness for my back up camera please help.
I have been researching 12" Tesla screens for my wife's 2012 LS460. I've ordered one from Smarty Trend and am awaiting its shipment. I don't believe any of the Tesla screens from any dealer support factory back-up cameras. The screens want to connect to AHD cameras. I found only one dealer that said their screen does support factory cameras but I don't believe them. Almost all of the screens I found look like either of two models based on the controls and shells. My guess is all the screens are made at either of two factories regardless of who sells them. BTW a Tesla screen is a 12" replacement for the factory head unit and display. The 9" screen you're describing is not what is generally regarded as a true Tesla screen. It's an overlay that retains the factory head unit. That's probably why you're having trouble with volume- the screen isn't playing nicely with the factory head unit.
I bought the Tesla screen radio for my 2010 Lexus LS460L and my factory backup camera works. Bought the radio from Phoenix automotive Inc. Connected everything up but didn't have sound and the bottom of the touchscreen controls for the A/C was cut off. Customer service was excellent. They sent me some files to download and that fixed the problems.
Hey, a few questions about that! Do the seat heater buttons there actually do anything? Additionally, do the AC controls work as they should? Finally, it looks like you're running Android Auto on it, does it natively support that, or did you have to install an app, and is it wireless Android Auto? So glad to finally find someone who actually has one of these installed, I've been eyeing it for a few months now!

did you have the ML sound system also did you have to modify anything or did it work fine with the plug and play?
The seat heater and cool doesn't actually work on the screen or doesn't show that they are on if you actually turn them on. AC controls work like they should. I have the 4 zone and it works like it should. It has wireless for android and apple but I usually just plug my phone in. It was in it already, didn't have to install an app. I do have the ML sound system. It was plug and play. When I first installed there was no sound but customer support sent me some files to upload and that fixed it.

Does the system sound better or does it sound the same? Also how are the parking indicators working? The last few devices I've seen online people were saying their parking indicators were going off non stop and the seat belt alarm wouldn't go off either.
How much RAM do you have on yours and are there any slow downs or glitches that you have noticed?
I've been very cautious with entertaining a fully touch screen device since I live in Texas and my car is black. Last thing I need is for the A/C to malfunction with a newborn in the car. I see you said you just connect directly for Android Auto but have you attempted to upload your own music with a microsd card?
I have a joying 12.3 inch screen for my Infiniti G35 and it really brought the car to life with Android Auto and the backup camera.
This is the only thing missing to make me not want to upgrade my 08 ls460 to another vehicle
The system actually sounds better to me. It has the equalizer to adjust the different frequencies. My distance sensors work fine, seat belt alarm is fine. I have to go back and look at the RAM but I think I got the 128gb. You can turn on the A/C with the touch screen and it has actual ***** and buttons for the A/C also. I listen to Sirius radio so I haven't uploaded any music.

I know this would be asking too much but if you had time would you be able upload a video one of these days showing the capabilities of the system. Phoenix automotive really did a terrible job promoting these new systems are supposed to really plug n play. The last one they released you had to install a new after market camera in order to use the backup camera.
Is it pretty straight forward to do the install? Cause I'm actually debating if I should replace the OEM camera with a better newer camera since it's 17yrs old
Sorry for a late response, My car has been in at my buddy's shop. A deer ran into the side of my car when I was headed to work in the wee hours of the morning. Front and rear driver side doors got some dents in them and getting the whole car repainted. It'll probably be another 2 weeks before I get it back but I'll upload a video when I do.

All good I called the sales team at Hamilton motoring company that have been making aftermarket Android Auto/Apple carplay installation decks for all the Lexus vehicles they said they do have a full screen aftermarket kit in the works. They said in 2 months they will release the module that piggybacks off the stock setup after that they will release one that's fully integrated into the car like what Phoenix automotive have done. They said it just takes them a longer time because they want to make sure everything is working properly the first time install
