Default TPMS issue reprogramming replaced sensors

I have a 2008 Lexus LS460. Two of the TPMS sensors were replaced (done at a shop at the request of a relative, I was not present and I doubt the shop had a Techstream). Since then the TPMS is showing an error. The TPMS orange warning light is blinking for 1 minute after startup and then illuminating steady after that. The exclamation point warning light is on and the info screen shows that the TPMS isn't functioning properly. I'm assuming the replaced sensors were never reprogrammed back to the vehicle when installed. Is this problem fixed with Techstream at a dealer or is there another method I can do this. The closest dealer to me is a Toyota dealer and they are trying to charge me $140 diagnostic fee just to hook it up, which I find ridiculous. I'm thinking of maybe trying the Lexus dealer which is a good bit farther away from me. I'm also wondering if there is a way for me to download the Techstream software and an adapter cable to connect the car to my laptop and do the reprogramming myself. Has anyone had this similar issue? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Check for a Discount Tire near you, they get good reviews on this site and seem to help quite a few people. Lexus or Toyota are both going to bend you over.

Amazon Amazon

No techstream required. This tool plus a TPMS reader tool will get it done. Very easy to program. if you have the serial numbers for the new tpms then maybe dont need a reader. I bought an open box vwrsion of this tool and it worked perfect on my 08 600hl.

Plus it works on just about any make/model and not specific to toyota.

This tool is out of stock. Might you know another equivalent that will work?

This is the only one i have used other than the handhelds. I have a handheld but it doesnt program these older Lexus/toyota vehicles. Check around ebay maybe?

I might be willing to rent out my set i guess if you cant find another set.

This is what I got. You can get simpler models and I think it's cheaper in the US: Autel MaxiTPMS TS501
Works great and is easy to use

They didn’t program the sensors into the ECU or the process didn’t complete. That’s why you get the flashing at start up. Why not take it back? It happens sometimes. Doesn’t need to be an argument just give them a chance to fix the error.

If you have a Walmart by you with an auto center it may be the cheapest solution if you don’t know the tpms serial number as it costs $30 to install a new one there including the sensor. Maybe they will reprogram for a lower price as well.

The work was done over a year ago at the request of my elderly father. It's possible that in that time another sensor has failed. At any rate I'm taking it to Walmart today to see if they can resolve the issue.

I believe that age car if even one sensor is bad, none will display. Always replace all five (spare tire) when you get the error light.
