Question Help: Trunk doesnt open whatever I do.

Hello Lexus friends.

I just got a new 2004 LS430 for the winter and the trunk doesn't open but the display says "trunk open". I tested the key and the key turns but the trunk keeps closed.

I hope I dont have to cut it open :/

Do you have the ultra Luxury package with the refrigerator in between the rear seats? If not, then another method would be to open the trunk passthrough and reach a broom handle or something similar in to see if you can actuate the emergency lever inside the trunk. Just a thought.

Have you tried with the physical key in the key slot under the left end of the trunk lip? It MUST be a Master key.

Also make certain that the Main Trunk Switch is in the Out position? It's the key slot next to the Trunk release and gas filler flap release.

Switch is in the out position (not pushed in) and the keyslot in the trunk does turn but it does not open the trunk.

I tried to push the trunk and wiggle the key but this did not help.

Sounds like mechanism is frozen. Keep lock turned with mechanical key and hit from top. If doesn't work squirt WD40 up key hole and hopefully some will seep into mechanism. Next day try procedure again. If fails drive by a body shop and see what they can do. I have done above procedure on a non lexus car.

There was a little piece of plastic stuck in the lock. We have managed to get in from deleting the subwoofer, cutting a hole with a knife in the trunk fabric and managed to delete the trunklid fabric and then unbolt the locking mechanism with a long wrench.

I hope nobody will ever experience this because it was a very stupid job to do.

The last owner wasn't careful where he putted his garbage crap.
