Does tinting rear window present unusual challenges? 2006 LS430.
My usual tint guy is saying there may be something unusual and challenging about tinting the rear windows on certain LS models including the LS430. He is saying the tint sometimes rises or bubbles making the installation more difficult.
Anyone notice this, know about this, or have any experience with this?
My 2006 had rather dark tint when I bought it in April of '17. Not sure when the tint was applied but I would assume shortly after purchased new as the car spent its entire life in Arizona.
No issues whatsoever
My FormulaONE installer had no issues 12 years ago with my 02 UL. He did note the double-paned glass all around and went real slow and gentle with the heat as to not explode the glass, including going real slow on the rear window. Lifetime warranty on FormulaONE tint installs, transferable across installers and I believe across car ownership too.
I had my 05 tinted about six months ago. The installer made no mention of any difficulty with the rear window, the job looks perfect all the way around, and I've had no issues.
I have tinted my rear window myself and have had it professionally done its not hard at all, I feel like your tinter is blowing smoke so they can justify charging a dumb amount.
When I got my '04 tinted, the guy was very frank in setting expectations and just said that since it's an older car, and the rear parcel shelf is carpeted and so close to the glass, that it was possible dust would get kicked up while they were back there. He was right and there are a few micro bubbles from dust, but it isn't horrendous and overall they did a great job.
