end of June I won an ebay auction for a LS 430. bid was $7,900 and on June 26th I paid ebay $500. and on July 1st I paid $7,548 . I thought that paying with my credit card would help if things did not work out. despite my putting up another $1,000 for the shipping as of today I am still without . no car and no chance to recover any of my money. well that isn't right as my credit card will refund the $1,000 since there is not anything being shipped. congratulations to GaryG at Florida Cars Brokers, you get to keep the money and I guess he can sell it to some one else. I have been with USAA for 49 years and thought they were different. dispute was rejected Sept. 9th. Jeff Credit Card.pdf
Is it Debit or Credit card?
If Credit card, which?
If Debit card, what bank?
You put everything in writing to your credit card or bank...right?
No verbal stuff to some random person on a 1-800 number that does not provide their real name?
If you did not receive what was purchased, then you have legal remedies.
If necessary, file a lawsuit against your bank and, or, credit card company.

Sorry for your trouble. Hope it may still be resolved to your complete satisfaction. Do see a company called Florida Car Brokers in Margate FL. Did not find a company called Florida Cars Brokers (One may wish to be careful how one may word statements when/where a dispute exists. May a lawyer later use one's own words against a person in a dispute, even if the words were used only to express exasperation? If a person writes "Congratulations ... you get to keep the money and re-sell the item...." may those written words later be used to "prove" that one gave up the rights to both money sent and to an item?)

Not knowing myself but having bought many things via eBay (not a car), I thought it was relatively safe, because people I know have gotten so many cars this way sight unseen...I take it it's more like a consumer level of auctioning (the $3500 2012 Range Rovers seem to be at a different level of the food chain). Again, I don't know, but I always assumed 1) with eBay one is protected--how can money change hands and the buyer never get anything? 2) one cannot buy a car with a credit card I can't prove 1 and 2 as fact, only what I've heard...good luck I can't see this being the final outcome, has to be recourse when a buyer is legit, and seller is not...(meaning I have some credit cards with > $25k credit--I cannot charge a car for $24k, but I can spend 24k at Costco if I really wanted to)
As a buyer, you are entitled to protection through eBay, exactly as 430SLOwner posted directly from eBays rules page. From what you have shared, I have to assume you haven't contacted eBay to look into this situation on your behalf?

yes, eBay (as a mediator) offers protection for both buyers and sellers. Remember, you're not paying "eBay" They are just the middle man. Ebay only gets paid via closing fees and some listing fees.
And, john, you can absolutely purchase a car with a CC. I've done it twice. Some retailers may not accept that FOP, but I've done it with my Chase Visa Marriott card.
I've purchased 3 cars new, the Lexus used. In each case I wanted to pay for the entire car via CC, in each case they said no. The used Lexus, they let me put 5k on it. The BMW? 2k. My wife's SUV which was the most expensive car I've ever purchased, $1000. I would love to collect $2500 in cash rewards if I could have. Oddly on my wife's? They accepted a personal check. The other 3 required cashier's check. In which case the BMW led to a SAR being filed on me, was watching too much FBI drama back then. I asked for 3 cashier's check of $9,999.99 each my wife said what an absolute dumb move since the aggregate amount is filed with the IRS anyway. Now Treasury gets wind too.
Was that company the company which listed the car for sale? Or, was it a seller (scammer?) using a similar name to that company? OP wrote the seller has a slightly different name; Florida Cars Brokers. The name you searched is not the same name.
OP should be fully covered through Ebay Motors. Not sure if he's followed up with them at all based on what he's supplied us with and his lack of follow-up but that should be the first step.

Agreed. This OP has gone Radio Silent. Wonder if he's been able to contact eBay for assistance? Odd to post about a potential "scam" and yet no follow up??
