Exclamation Loud noise at 35+ mph

I've got a 2002 Lexus LS430 with 229k on her and i just redid the spark plugs/coil pack now I'm getting a sound from the front wheels, I'm curious to know if it's a wheel bearing, hub, or control arms.. it's not rattling so I'm assuming it's not a control arm but yet again maybe at higher speeds (30mph + it begins to increase as i progress in speed). Anyone have similar issues or know a possible solution, i want to quiet it up for driving long distances, especially on the highway.

ANY HELP IS TRULY APPRECIATED IN ADVANCE!

Thanks LexusFam!

Does the sound go away when turning? A worn wheel bearing normally gets quiet when you load the bearing going into a turn. Left turn quiet indicates the left bearing is noisy, right turn quiet indicates the right bearing is noisy.

It could be something as obvious as tires or alignment.

As said it's probably a tire or wheel bearing

I believe it’s the opposite. Taking the load off the bad bearing will quiet it down and verify it’s bad. If the sound lessens on a left turn it would indicate right bearing. If it lessens on a right turn it indicates left bearing. The front bearings are easiest to isolate.

When my rear wheel bearing went out 30-35 was the magic number and boy did she scream. Atleast yours is front. Get on AMAYAMA and grab a Koyo Bearing, go rent a puller and have it.

Replacing another front wheel bearing tonight on my '01 UL. It's making a groaning sounds at 50 MPH now, gets louder as it warms up, and varies in pitch a bit as I go around corners in opposite directions. What is weird that happened last time, the sound appears to be coming from the driver side, but it's the pass bearing failing. Happened last time in reverse.

As others have said, it's a very easy fix if you have tools and space.

I've never done one but if it's easy that's cool. I've always heard this isn't one of those things like with an oil leak where you just keep on chugging until it becomes a real problem. You don't want the real problem to happen while driving...

(I investigated my wife's when she got the service stabilitrak warning--on a GM, the OE is so cheap. Even my BMW (I had a grinding sound so I investigated that too--turned out to be a gigantic screw in a tire, one of those from a Audi underbelly pan or something)...

Put the car on a lift and shake the wheel back and forth with your hands to check for a bad wheel bearing
