Perhaps I can learn from others. My 200K 2005 LS430 first has come down with a noisy blower motor but a bigger problem is that even with the car at operating temperature the heat in the cabin at times is poor. On the open highway it seems fine. Can someone point out what the issue may be? Does the LS have a vacuum assisted blending door that may have an issue?
Possible cause would include air in the coolant system. A bubble at the
sensor would mislead the system. Highway speed has the engine and
coolant pump working at high RPM, low engine speed may be allowing
air bubbles to form. ("Captain, we're cavitating!" Hunt for Red October)
Its either 1 of 2 things -
1. The hot water isnt getting to the heat exchagner / heater core . could be a bubble, blockage, valve issue
2. the fan isn't moving the hot air past the heater core- could be a blend door issue, blockage, clogged filter, etc.
Thanks for the advice - I was surprised to find the radiator almost empty. I put .75 gallon of distilled water in it and all seemed to be fine. For the life of me I could not find a leak. I put a pressure tester on the radiator and it held about 20 lbs however did go down very slowly. I ordered a new cap - figured I would start there. I pulled the engine cover off and did not see any leaks there - the engine runs fine (as always)...i do have to say 'm really bad on checking my coolant and its a good couple years checking it....can that much evaporate in that period of time?
missing coolant on LS430's is fairly common. Mine needs to be topped off every now and then, but it has gotten better since i replaced my radiator cap with a new OEM one.
