Default Just picked up an LS430, trying to resolve some minor issues.

Hey everyone, just picked up an 05 LS430 with Premium Package, with 134,000 miles on the odometer. It is an awesome car!
I have been lurking here forever and searching through threads for solutions to these issues and while I did find some answers, I have a couple issues I need more help with.

I am obsessed with having my windshield spotless on all of my cars, it just so happened that this particular car has what I thought was a "Stuck" Washer button.

After picking at it with 2 razor blades, I noticed it was not stuck but it was maybe missing a spring or something, so it was just going into the down position. I pulled the plastic button cover out and saw a metal button within the stalk.
I tried to push it but it wouldnt nudge. I am not sure if there used to be a spring in there and another metal contact that touched it when you pushed the button down but theres nothing in there. I do not want to replace the whole stalk if I dont have to, but I am wondering what is missing here and what I should do to fix it.

DOUBLE EDIT: Washer button solution in post 3

EDIT: Just read in another thread that there is a "spring/electrode" that is supposed to be in there, was wondering if there was a way to DIY fix this and make my own. Or if there was a part number or some other way to obtain this spring/electrode

My other issues are minor and I found solutions to them on the forums but they include:
  • Failed Tilt/Telescopic Steering - found a solution here that I will attempt soon, thanks clublexus!
  • Stuck Middle Console (Unless you push it forward then open it) - Found a solution on here as well, thanks again!
  • Front passenger speaker is rattling, gonna attempt to replace it myself along with the drivers side using a tutorial I saw on here to remove the door panels.
  • Rear Sunshade only one arm slides, the other doesnt, not sure what the problem is, havent searched here for it yet because its low on my list of priorities but I am open to advice.
  • How to run a reverse camera through from the trunk and how to wire it - This is actually an issue that I have not yet found a solution to. I am adding an aftermarket head unit in a couple of days, and Best Buy is going to install it free, but they charge an arm and a leg if I want to have them install a backup camera. I was thinking to do that myself, but I was wondering what is the best way to run the wires from the trunk. I saw directions on here for UL models, but mine is a base model with premium package and no nav and no ML so not sure whats the best way to do it. I searched youtube and saw a tutorial but that guy had a navtool or something in his trunk, and I want to run mine to the front and connect it to my Kenwood DMX7706S. While I am on the subject, are there any good aftermarket backup cams you guys suggest?
But back to the main issue for me: the washer button. Please see the pictures and lemme know:

Thanks for reading!

I would probably just replace the switch

for the center console

Be sure to look through the faq too

Thank you, I will check those links, as for the switch, I do not see anywhere where they sell it separately. Just the entire stalk assembly and I do not think it needs all that. I feel like maybe its missing a spring. I saw others have an issue similar to this, but not sure what their solution was. My button must be missing a spring, and I am wondering if that spring is what triggers the washers. Or maybe my washer does trigger but the fuse is blown or the pump motor is bad. Not sure what it is.

EDIT: Okay I found a potential (currently untested) solution in case anybody has an issue with this in the future. I took a paper clip and touched it to the center part of the button (pictured above) and then I touched the other side to the bottom of the area surrounding the button (in my picture I think its that gold ring at the very bottom), this immediately triggered the washer fluid function and all was working well.

SO my theory on fixing this, since my button isnt broken and actually stays within the stalk, is to either hot glue a wire across the center of inside of the button (so when you push down it will touch the central button) and then have the other end of the wire touch the gold part I mentioned earlier. As for the spring solution, I already solved that by destroying a pen, cutting the spring to length, and then stretching out the first 2 or 3 loops with some scissors (insert the scissors closed, into the spring, then try to repeatedly open them to stretch out the rings, and I glued that over the button.

Theoretically this should work, I even considered a paperclip or aluminum foil instead of wire. Either way should fix it. Yes it's ghetto, maybe even stupid, but if its stupid and it works then is it really stupid?

Hope this helps
