Hello,
Somebody overheated the engine in my 2003 GS430 and I found a replacement from a junk yard. They claim it comes from LS430, but my mechanic says it's some truck engine and he might need to replace (lower) block in addition to the oil pan to put it into the GS430.

Please see the attached picture of what I assume might be the serial number of the engine. Any ideas?

The label may be the timing cover only (pn of the cover?)....meaning the actual motor would not have a bar code that could simply peel off....

 

A very similar V8 with iron block and sturdier lower end (instead of all aluminum block in the LS 430 ) is used in V8 powered LX470s, Land Cruisers and 4Runners.

 

This could be what we're looking at, and it's out of a Tundra....4.7 I believe
