Default 2005 Remote Key Programming (Non Smart) Help Needed

I have one Master Key for my 2005. I need to get another Master as a back up. I'd like to avoid the dealer if possible. This is for a non smart key. Basic 3 button remote key. I searched but only found 01 to 03 and smart key info.

I can purchase an OEM and have it cut by Lexus dealer online. I was wondering if there is a DIY method for programming the 04-06 keys and if needed how to remove old keys from the memory if the slots are full.

Thank you for that.

Unfortunately looks like dealer or locksmith needs be involved for adding a new master key because it lists a handheld tester being necessary for the immobilizer registration but not for the remote functions as that can be done with or without a handheld unit.

Only if you replace the key transponder ecu can you register new keys without the handheld is the way I'm reading it.

hopefully someone who has been through this firsthand can elaborate.

I believe Techstream can do nearly everything the "handheld" can do. It's a $25 investment that worth every penny. Do a search on this forum for more detail on it.

That was my next question if techstream would handle this. I'll do some reading up. Would be worth the investment.

Tom57 is very knowledgeable with the TechStream, and he's always ready to lend a helping hand.

You need Techstream to register keys (with or without SmartAccess) for any LS 2004 - 06 LS. (2001 - 03 LS keys can be registered easily without Techstream.)

Thank you for confirming that. I read through the techstream thread and my head is still spinning from all the 32 bit and 64 bit talk with manual program installs, virtual systems etc. I'm not computer savvy so it all sounds like Chinese to me.

A Lexus (or probably Toyota) dealer, or a qualified locksmith (call ahead to verify) is your only option then.

I live in Jessup MD if you want to meet up this weekend and try to program the key. I have Techstream on my laptop and have only used it to make a couple changes and a health check. I do have it installed on my virtual machines, both 32 bit and 64 bit. Shoot me a message and we can set something up if you want to try and not spend money at a dealer or locksmith.

Thank you for the offer. That would have been very cool. Unfortunately i just moved 9 hours away down south. Jessup was 25 minutes away from where i used to live in Baltimore.

No problem. If I were you I would try a locksmith then. I had good luck with them over the dealer. Dealer "couldn't" program a key when I had my GS430 and wanted me to buy new keys and the computer. Found a locksmith, $80 later and about a half hour I was good to go.
