Default Oscillating Vent Stopped Oscillating

The vent on the drivers side has stopped oscillating. The passengers side works fine. Changing the settings or having someone in the passengers seat doesn't seem to make a difference. Any ideas?

Try turning the on/off for the oscillating vents to reset it or disconnecting the battery?

if that doesnt work i believe there is an ecu for those vents that may have went bad.

ECU is one possible (and expensive) fix. The second is a failed motor. I looked at a possible '04 purchase. Test drive was great until I turned on the vents. Got a "nails shaken in a can" noise. Lex dealer said they do go bad (assume he meant motors not Lex dealers). His quote to replace both motors was $900. Good luck

The vent now works intermittently. My question is where are the motors located? Various vent assemblies are available on Ebay. Has anyone attempted this?

I leave mine off. Matter of fact, I leave all that automated stuff off, vents, steering wheel, mirrors. I just don't want them to break. Sometimes I ask myself the difference between using that stuff until it breaks, or just not using them at all? I don't know, I'm weird and OCD on things.

It's ok, you should do what makes you happy. My thinking is what are you saving for? You might as well enjoy these features while you have them. I like and use all of the features such as the tilt and telescope wheel, folding mirrors and auto-sweep. Sure, if the auto sweep stops working and cannot be repaired for a reasonable price, I will just set the vent the way I want it and forget it. At 14 years old and 153,000 miles, I am not worried about the next owner.

Yeah mine work all the time 90% of the time lol... don't really know what triggers them to not automatically function sometimes. When they don't work on their own I found a technique that works on my car: turn off oscillating, turn off ac, turn ac on, press oscillating... one will move till its synced with the other and them they both move.

I only have to do this maybe 2 times a week out of all the times I start it up but still don't know the real reason it happens.

Exactly. I use and have used all my car features since I purchased it with 21,000 miles in 2007. Use folding mirrors every time I enter and leave the garage, auto steering wheel is always on, and have never had any trouble with any those features or the oscillating vents either.

Sometime I wonder if constant usage isn't better than less frequent usage. Either way, I am not "saving" my car features for a possible future owner. I didn't buy the car to "not" use it.

Just my opinion.

I hear you. I plan on keeping this car for a long time. Maybe I'll start using those features.

Can't help but wonder if the vent pivots are not dirty with gunk. Get some silicone spray or even WD 40. Turn off the feature and manually spray in the lube using the supplied wand. Work it manually. Let set for a while. Do this to both vents.

See if this works.
