I had bought a 2006 LS430 Japanese model. It is Ultra luxury, has air suspension and everything else... what i can understand is that i have cruise control... but on the internet it says about adaptive cruise control... i want to know if the japanese model had it.. or was it only for the american version?

Look under the front bumper for a small rectangle black glass. You should have it.

If not, then you don't have adaptive cruise control.

 

Unless you have the PRESAFE system, then the radar would be being a clear plate surrounding the emblem on the grill.

First pic is actually Laser cruise - only available on UL and CL models.

 

Japanese model... so a celsior? i know the celsiors come in way different trims than the 430s, so maybe you got one with air ride but no laser cruise control? i dunno i have seen some unique options in the celsior. ive even seen one with cloth interior.

 

i have neither of those... really sucks! i thought it was like the all features model... now i have to use normal cruise

Hmmm, that is definitely not a stock factory option for sure. Never seen it before.

It might be an aftermarket add on from the previous owner.



It looks like it might be some sort of sensing device, maybe an aftermarket adaptive cruise module? I have no idea to be honest. Or, it could be just one of those really old garage door openers that you had to mount on your car.

 

Is it a police radar detector?

 

i don't think the second pic is pre collision either. Believe it is Radar cruise. I have radar cruise but haven't been able to find any indication of pre-collision present on the car

are you sure...cause the repair manual labels that plexiglass plate with the lexus logo on the grill as a "Millimeter Wave Radar Sensor"

 

In the UL it uses that same radar for both cruise and PCS. Have it on mine, it has most definitely worked several times as a PCS .

 

interesting.....does anyone know if PCS was a separately orderable option in addition to radar cruise? likewise it would be interesting to know if you could get PCS with laser cruise?
