Picked up a 2001 LS430 for my daughter. It drives so nice that I am tempted to keep it for myself but that will mean giving my 2012 ES to my daughter - I'm not ready to do that yet.
The price was right for a car with less than 100k on it but it's a 15 year old car, so interior is showing its age. Specially, the steering wheel and armrest leathers are pretty much worn off.
I know I can get a new armrest cover. What can be done to the steering wheel leather? Can it be painted? Doorjamb sticker says interior color is ecru (C/TR is 066/LK03), but the upper dash/steering is a darker tone than the seat leather and lower dash. How do I find a color code for that part? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Best plan for steering wheel paint match is to take the gearshift **** off, take it to a reputable paint supply store, and have them color match their best latex flat paint. I've done this for minor touch up of the leather where it meets the wood and has worn thru. Use a small artist brush and you won't be able to tell the difference. I don't know how well this would work if you are trying to paint the entire wheel leather. The worn spots were created by previous owner and I don't grip the wheel in the worn spots. It will also work to repair any worn spots on the top of the gearshift ****.
