04-06 LS430 VIN # Question
Hello,
Can someone please clarify if there should be a VIN number on the trunk and front fenders on LS430?
I have had bad experience in the past buying vehicles that had replaced panels (long story short....crappy body work leads to rust problems down the road). I would like to purchase an LS430 05-06 and want to make sure it has original panels.
I have called several dealerships and even private sellers inquiring that they check the VINs on all panels, which typically includes all 4 doors, hood, trunk, and front fenders, but they were unable to locate the VIN number on the trunk OR the fenders.
I will assume that on the fenders they might not be visible because they are underneath the plastic covers around the engine, but every Lexus I've had has had a trunk VIN number.
Can someone please provide concrete information without guessing.

He means the panel ID sticker is on the trunk lid by the latch mechanism. Other Toyota's have the trunk ID sticker on the lower right quarter either on a support rib but often under the cover.
Okay can someone please take a picture where this VIN is on the trunk?
Is it in plain sight or do you need to remove the fabric cover to see it?
Literally every dealership I have contacted cannot see a VIN on the trunk.

I went out and looked, no exposed VIN in the trunk on my 2005. I pulled back some of the covers and peeked in and didn't see it either; I didn't remove the full middle piece, just around the edges.
I wonder what that guy was on about who said it's in the middle by the latch.
Pull the cover off, that will verify location. Can't speak for the 430 I work on them here there but not in the rear section. '08 Corolla and the '97 LS400 panel ID is on the passenger side near the tail light. The trunk key cylinder is visible.
