Exclamation Cleaning Control Switch Contacts Didnt help!!!!!!

My 2006 LS430 UL 39k miles has a problem with driver side mirror . The mirror works some times and most of the time it doesnt . The wierd thing is that when i press of the memorized setting for the 3 drivers , it works fine to that setting , but when i try to control it through the control panel itworks 1 out of 10 tries .another thing i noticed when i backup only the passenger mirror goes down where the driver side mirror doesnt move. There is no clicking sound or anything so i really dont think its a motor , i think it might be the control panel or the wires

I read many posts here about cleaning the contacts , i did that , i pulled the control switch opened the whole parts , cleaned them and nothing happened .

The dealer wants to change the mirror .!!!!!!

Any help would be apperciated , because this has taken most of my time . Thank you

if you end up not being able to figure it out, you could try ebay. There are some used mirrors on there. You could install just to see if the mirror is the problem and then take the guts from it if it is. It would be cheaper than a brand new one the dealer wants to charge you for. They might even have a used one on ebay in the color you want. Just a thought...

It seems likely that a switch is your problem rather than the motor in the mirror. An electric motor usually works or it doesn't. What symptoms you are reporting, in terms of relatively random intermittent movement, would point me towards a switch as being the source of the problem. I have an 06 LS430 also and the driver side door mirror is the only thing on the car that has failed and had to be repaired/replaced. The mirror totally stopped working and Lexus said it needed to be replaced. I had it replaced by Lexus under CPO warranty about a year after I bought the car used (so repair apprx 2010).

I went through exactly same process. After thoroughly cleaning the contact area and still unable to make it work properly, I used a small sand paper to lightly sand the contacts. It works perfectly ever since.

When you backup only one of the mirrors will fold down depending on if you have the mirror selection on left or right.
None of the mirrors will fold down if the selection is in the middle.
This feature is working fine for you.

Slightly wrong. BOTH mirrors will tilt down whether you have the switch to the left or right. They will not work independently. Yes, if the switch is in the middle, mirrors will not tilt downward.

On another note, i did the switch cleaning process on mine a while back but still had an intermittent problem on the drivers side. I ended up pulling the cover off the mirror and found that the motor contact plug was barley making contact. I adjusted the pins so that they will make such contact. Drivers mirror works perfectly. Now, i have the same problem with the pass. side.

Agree - mirror switch adjust set to L or R will make both mirrors tilt down when in reverse. Switch set in the middle deactivates tilt down mirrors on both sides.

Thank you guys for your recommendations, i think i am gonna order a switch from ebay and i hope it will solve the problem , but the thing is when i pulled out the switch to do the cleaning , it was nothing there , no dust or corrosion, it was kinda fairly new , the car has 39k miles only and in immaculate condition , i. Am Really disappointed with this issue though ,
