Default Burnout

Just curious....I have pretty much been pampering our LS430 in the six months we have owned it. I Have never made a full throttle start. But, with traction control turned off, how much rubber will one of these babies lay down without holding the brake?
Do these cars have a locking diff., or do they just spin the right rear?

I tried with my wide rears to do a burnout when I just put new tires. Only holding brake and gas together I achieved some, a try a few months later when tires broke in had zero effect. You will never get a burnout just pressing full throttle from the start. Our cars have electronic accelerator pedal and thus will smoothly take off without a hint of wheelspin. To me, the best start is pressing accelerator half way and then to the floor. Oh yeah, both wheels spin and our cars do have a locking diff.

You are dead wrong on this one. At least with mine it's different. If I turn TRAC off i can simply just sit there and smoke away. I have only played around with doing this one time and it suprsied the hell out of me.

Of course I turned trac off, tried on D, 3, 2 and only on 1 I was able to get a burnout holding brake and accelerator together. Maybe it depends on tires and their width but my tires have lots of grip in dry weather, when wet I can spin rear wheels when I want.

Hit that pedal and hit it fast. Either that or maybe you got the Camry engine!

im pretty sure we have open diffs (atleast in the 01's).. If you do get a burn out started you'll probably be peg-leggin it.

As for wheel spin.. when i had POS falkens (90 a tire) i was able to get wheel spin when launching til ~20mph

When my previous conti's were worn and readyfor change, TSC off and gun the peddle broke the tires each time and got plenty of smoke.

Turn off trac control, release brake and instantly slam the peddle to about 3/4 throttle and on dry cold winter asphalt you should break them loose for about 10-15 feet. Hot summer asphalt would have different results lol. But these cars feel like they have more horsepower than stated. I used to have a 300c with 340 hp and 390 ft pounds of torque and my LS does not feel to far behind. I can say I am very impressed with the power.

I guess you don't like your tires ?
Never tried this in my car, but the cheaper the tires, the easier and longer they'll spin.

Just try it and let us know, lol

Sure--if you're replacing your tires anyway, especially the very same day, that sounds like fun!

Say, does anyone think it's otherwise bad for the car in any way at all? I'd never want to hurt anything but the outgoing tires, not even a little!

It certainly shouldn't hurt anything to make an occassional full throttle start. I've made enough in my other cars thru the years without any problems.

If a full throttle start was to break anything in your LS , whatever breaks would have broken sooner than later anyway.

The LS is a luxury car, so ... to me, burning rubber from a full throttle start in an LS430 would not be something I would bother trying, but if you want to, do it .... and let us know how it turns out.

Actually, I am waiting for the snow to build up so I can turn off the traction control and drift around a large mall parking lot early one morning ... different strokes for different folks !

Think of it this way.... A BMW 3 series or M3 is meant to be flogged non stop and pretty much handle it. I can attest that the LS uses a heavier duty, stronger and more robust rear end, U-joints and transmission. This all goes without saying the engine is more than durable enough. These cars are put thru so much torture testing during development it nuts. Flog away, your not going to hurt a flippin thing!

Hello Guys New to this site, couldn't help the Burnout ? Im on my 2nd Lexus most recent being an 01 LS 430, with the VSC button off, it will BOIL, both back tires off, no brake, only throttle, from a dead stop, only did it once , I was Amazed, I laughed for 30 minutes about the amount of smoke and rubber it Left. Wouldn't recommend doing all the time, Although the only Damage it should do, would be to the back tires, these cars are Bullet Proof,

If you did this all the time you would definitely shorten the lifespan of the engine and tranny, I wouldn't recommend it.

id still love to see a video if anyone wants to try it
